Dear Members and Friends of Grace Church,

Thanks to all of you who filled out the survey last week. The vestry has created several teams: Communications, Building Maintenance and Use, Health and Sanitation and Worship. In addition to Vestry, some staff and other leaders are consulting in each of these areas. We will try to be in communication more frequently as we approach in person worship. Your vestry and staff are inclined to be extra-cautious about returning to worship.

As ever feel free to call me at 810 887 8194 or to contact your vestry members if you have questions or concerns.

Please Remember to Give
Even though we cannot join together for worship, we greatly appreciate you continuing your financial support to Grace.
If you have continued to send in your pledge, THANK YOU !

The staff and volunteers are working hard behind the scenes at home finding ways to keep in contact, to stay connected and to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Thanks to those who have made extra donations to support our outreach to needy families.

Possible ways to continue your support:
* mail a check to the church (we still have staff picking up the mail)
* donate online

REMEMBER: Another way to support Grace is by making your purchases through smile.amazon.com. Just go here and shop!:

And yet another way is by linking your Kroger card to Grace Port Huron. You go online to sign up and a percentage of you purchase goes to support Grace.

The Cares Act includes some new incentives for charitable giving, for people who don't itemize and for those who do. You can read about that here.
Grace Connecting
through ZOOM

To participate you need a smartphone, tablet or computer, ideally with a built in microphone and camera. You don't need to be one of the Wednesday regulars. Anyone who would like to ask questions, talk, pray is welcome.

Vacation Bible School
~ registration open until June 30th ~

I am super-duper excited for this new experience of virtual vbs! Will I miss seeing everyone's smiling faces in person??? ABSOLUTELY! But I think we will still have as much fun as we always do at VBS! And with our weekly zooms I will be able to see your smiles! Hooray!

Our typical vbs had us meeting everyday for a whole week… This virtual vbs will run for SIX weeks, but you and your families can do the activities, crafts & sing the songs whenever works for you!

I will hold zoom gatherings twice each week… On Monday to share what the lesson/theme are and also to talk about & show you some of what you can do for the week. On Friday we will zoom gather again to share with each other what we did & learned!

Please register by June 30th to receive a kit complete with EVERYTHING you will need! Kit pickup will be during church office hours on June 30th & July 1st from 9am - Noon.

Please contact Mrs. Larson if you have any questions.

Opening Prayer
“Welcome, Jesus. We are blessed with your presence. Amen .”

Gather & Listen to Story
Welcome, Jesus
Jesus says to his friends, “Whoever welcomes you, welcomes me.”

“That sounds easy,” says James. He turns to Peter and gives him a hug. “Welcome, Jesus!” says James.

Jesus laughs. “That’s right. You share in my work. I share in your life. When people see what you do, they see me. When people welcome you, they welcome me.”

“Even if they just give a hug?” asks Peter.

“Even if they just give a cup of cold water,” says Jesus. “If people give even a drink of water to you because you are my friend, they welcome me.”

Read the Gospel story Matthew 10:40-42
◆ When is welcoming others, in the spirit of Jesus, difficult if not impossible?
◆ When are the times when you have felt genuinely welcomed in this same spirit?
◆ What things to we and others do that seem welcoming on the surface, but really don’t
turn out to be that way.
◆ What things do we think, say or believe that blind us to the welcome that others extend
to us?
◆ Jesus mentions “a cup of cold water” as a symbol of welcome. What are contemporary
examples of a gesture of welcome we could offer?

Craft - Appreciation Cards
Make cards for people who make a big difference in their lives—friends, family members,
teachers or others.

Directions to participants:
◆ Fold a 5" x 7" index card in half (to make a 5" x 3½" folded greeting card).
◆ Open the card. Use felt pens or colored pencils to draw a picture on the right-hand side.
◆ The picture should show a little thing making a big difference. For example, you could show someone handing a cup of cold water to a thirsty person.
◆ Hold a pin on the center of the little thing you have drawn. Close the card, making a pinhole in the card front.
◆ Cut a tiny opening around the pinhole. Gradually enlarge this opening to make a window that shows only the little thing in your picture, for example, the cup of water.
◆ Brainstorm appropriate words to add to the cards. For example, one could write,
“You make a big difference to me” or “A little thing...makes a big difference.” You could
also use words from Matthew 10:40-42 or personalized, individual notes. Encourage each person to give their cards to the people they have chosen.

Sing and/or play the hymn Crown Him with Many Crowns , reflecting today’s theme.

Close with prayer
"Jesus, help me to following you and be welcoming like you this week. Amen ."
Please share with Mrs. Larson what you are up to at home!
We'd love to see your smiling faces!
And maybe you'll see yourself on Grace's Facebook page!
