Grace Notes

Friday Devotional:

Psalm 23

Are you a fast mover, or do you usually take your time? When you're walking with family and friends, are you usually leading the group or bringing up the rear?

As we travel through Lent, we are traveling with Jesus toward his cross. We're on our way to Good Friday and Jesus' suffering for our sins. Reading Psalm 23 helps us reflect on our journey with Jesus. It helps us remember that wherever we go, and however long it takes, we are not alone: "The Lord is [our] shepherd" (v.1). The Lord walks in front of us, leading us and taking good care of us.

As you imagine the Lord's care for you, which promises comfort you the most? You might long for God's presence in the darkest valley. Perhaps you have been walking for a long time and want to lie down in green pastures. Maybe you want to know the right path to take. Psalms 23, read prayerfully, offers strength and peace as you reflect on the promises the Lord, your shepherd, has made to you.

Merciful God, lead me to walk in your ways and share your goodness with others. In Jesus' name. Amen.
