Grace Notes

Friday Devotional:

Psalm 32

I was once in trouble far from home in another country. I had no way to purchase a plane ticket and no way to get to an airport. I was staying in a house near a national forest. Not knowing what else to do, I went for a walk in the woods. When I came to an empty campsite, I sat on a log and prayed only one word: "Help."

By the time I walked out of the woods, I knew I would get home safely, though none of the facts of the situation had changed. Soon after that day, acquaintances and total strangers approached me with offers of all sorts of help. Some knew of my situation; others did not. Yet each person provided one piece of my puzzle-how to get out of a bad situation.

I often think of that day in the woods when I read a psalm like the one we focus on today. We sometimes take wrong turns or make foolish mistakes. When we do, god sends just the right people at just the right time to get us back on a good path again. Of that we can be certain.

Thank you, God, for hearing my cries for help and coming to my rescue. Amen.

Operation LOVE meets every Wednesday at 9:00 am in the coffee room. Anyone interested in participating in this ongoing project is encouraged to join the group at any time.
