Friday Devotional:

Ephesians 4:11-16

Many summer camps offer counselor-in-training (CIT) programs to shape teenagers into effective camp counselors. As CIT's these young people get a taste of leadership roles and learn from seasoned mentors. CIT's may discover that they excel at listening to campers, playing the guitar at campfires, or using their loud voices during field games. The CIT's practice sharing their God-given gifts so they can encourage campers to do the same.

In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul wrote about leadership training for new Christian churches. He proclaimed the need for various leaders, such as pastors and evangelists, to share a sacred purpose-building up the body of Christ. Essentially, all the heads of the young churches were learning on the job. To encourage these leaders-in-training, Paul passed on God's best leadership tips: In order to build up the community, rely on the skills God gave you, hold firm against false doctrines, and deliver divine truths.

SERVICE OVER SUMMER PROJECT

Summer is now in full swing, and with it, starts our annual summer project for Our Redeemer. Over the summer, we will be collecting school supplies in order to assemble School Kits for Lutheran World Relief and local students.

Starting NOW, we ask that if you are able to donate one item from the list below, drop it off at the church office. Another option, we are accepting monetary donations, and we'll do the shopping on your behalf. We will be

accepting donations all summer long!

With your help, we hope to assemble at least 120 school bags.

With your help, these bags will go to places like Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, as well as students in our own community!

Items Needed for School Kits:

· One box of 16 or 24 crayons

· Four 70-sheet spiral notebooks of wide or college-ruled paper,

approximately 8"x10 ½"; no loose-leaf paper

· One 30-centimeter ruler, or a ruler with centimeters on one side and inches on the other

· Five black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); secured together with a

rubber band

Ladies Ensemble:

Women's ensemble rehearsal Sunday, directly after our morning service (@ 11:30 a.m.) I look forward to rehearsing with you!

Quilting and Fellowship

Every Wednesday at 9:00 am

The quilting group "Operation LOVE" at Our Redeemer has been creating quilts for the Lutheran World Relief quilt ministry for many years. About 100 quilts are sent annually to Lutheran World Relief for distribution to those in need around the world.

Operation LOVE meets every Wednesday at 9:00 am in the coffee room. Anyone interested in participating in this ongoing project is encouraged to join the group at any time.

Sewing/quilting experience is not essential since there are many different ways to give assistance as needed.
