Grace Notes

Friday Devotional:

Psalm 65:[1-8] 9-13

The psalms draw us in with poetic images, often from the natural world, such as "meadows [that] clothe themselves with flocks."

Pastor Catherine Foote brought this image from the psalms to life in both of her roles-as a minister and as a sheep herder. She wrote a thoughtful book about these two experiences, called Shepherding the Seasons (Pilgrim Press, 2020). She describes her two flocks- a congregation celebrating church seasons, such as Christmas and Easter, and a herd of sheep going through seasons, such as lambing and wool-gathering- and reflects on how God's work unfolds across the year and throughout creation.

Each summer Pastor Foote invites her congregation to visit her sheep farm for a day and share in her joy at new lambs and bucolic life. On visitation days, her two flocks frolic in the meadows and sing for joy, giving thanks to the great Shepherd who waters the earth, crowns the year with bounty, and delivers signs of hope.

Surely your goodness and mercy, O God, shall follow me all the days of my life. Amen.

Quilting and Fellowship

Every Wednesday at 9:00 am

The quilting group "Operation LOVE" at Our Redeemer has been creating quilts for the Lutheran World Relief quilt ministry for many years. About 100 quilts are sent annually to Lutheran World Relief for distribution to those in need around the world.

Operation LOVE meets every Wednesday at 9:00 am in the coffee room. Anyone interested in participating in this ongoing project is encouraged to join the group at any time.

Sewing/quilting experience is not essential since there are many different ways to give assistance as needed.
