A Message from Lisa Bernd
Hello Everyone

I wanted to reach out to all of you and share a bit of news. I will be leaving my position at Grace Lutheran Church. I was offered an opportunity for a full time job and thought it would be a great time to start a new chapter in my life. My last day in the office will be Wednesday, July 6, 2022.

I have enjoyed every minute of my past 15 ½ years here. I have enjoyed sharing all of your good news, meeting your new babies, being included in your family events and listening to all of your wonderful stories. It has also been an honor to be a support during some of your saddest days.

I feel blessed to have raised my children in this congregation. They got an amazing biblical foundation from all of the great leaders they had as mentors. I have loved worship on Sunday, teaching Sunday School, helping with colored bells, VBS & playing in the handbell choir.

Before setting off on to my next chapter, I wanted to reach out to all of you and let you know how great it has been to work here. I have learned so much from all of you and will carry that with me forever. I wish you all the best as you, as a congregation, set out on your next chapter calling your new pastor.

I don’t want to think of this as a goodbye but more of a see you later. I look forward to seeing you around town, on your Facebook post or at a local sporting event.

Wishing you all the best,

Lisa Bernd
A Message from Pastor Greg
I receive the news of Lisa’s transition with sadness and understanding. She has been a much appreciated teammate for me during this interim. I am happy for the new opportunity that has arisen for her as Grace continues in this season of transition. We will celebrate our ministry and friendship with both Lisa and John at a cake reception following worship on Sunday July 24th.

It is also a chance for me to catch up with so many close friends, with important colaboradores who have been part of this work for 20 years this January! The advances that have made by our villages have been significant, and the skills, progress, and empowerment they have gained are evident and will be critical in the future! It is a chance to thank you!

Please call or text either Joan Tuttle (414 587-9505), Pat Murack (262 951-5056), or Meg Boren ( 262 339-8522) so we have an accurate count for the caterer. You can put a check in the Circle of Empowerment’s box at church or pay the night of the event. Hope to see you there!!!
Constitutional Revision Information
The council has been hard at work updating Grace’s constitution. We are excited to share the revisions that were made for all to review. Sunday August 14th, we are holding our MSP listening session and in conjunction with that will have a brief discussion regarding the revisions to our constitution.

Revisions to our constitution require 2 congregational votes. The first vote will occur on Sunday August 28th at the same time our MSP is approved. The second vote will occur at our Annual Church Meeting on Sunday January 22, 2023.

Please direct any questions you might have regarding the revisions to Steve Knowles (knowles.sl@gmail.com) who has been pivotal in the completion of this project. Steve was kind enough to also generate an overview that highlights the changes for ease of reading and comprehension. Thank you Steve for the dedication and care you have shown your church home, Grace!

Volunteers Needed in the Technology Booth
Are you interested in helping run media for worship services at Grace? Volunteers are needed at the Sunday service (and both services in the fall) to help out in the technology booth. Training will be provided for running the PowerPoints and in other needed areas. Confirmation and high school students – this would be a great volunteer opportunity for you, too. All ages welcome. Stop by the Technology Booth before or after worship for more information or contact John Bernd at john.bernd@gmail.com if you are interested.

Quilters Always Need Sheets Including Flannel
The word is out about the wonderful quilts we make. More and more organizations locally need our quilts, not just Lutheran World Relief. So please think of us as you attend rummage sales or mention to your friends when they are getting rid of sheets in useable condition. You all know the sizes – twin flat, full flat and fitted, queen flat and fitted, king flat and fitted in cotton or cotton blend and flannel. Please no microfiber or polyester.

Again, thank you for always responding to our requests. Remember the Grace Quilters when donating for memorials. We could not continue without your help, monetary or otherwise.
Summer Worship Series
Our summer worship series begins May 22 through Labor Day Sunday teaching the book of Acts from beginning to end. Biblically rooted, Christ centered, Holy Spirit empowered—this is the story of Acts that God wishes to communicate to us and through us.  This series mirrors the beginnings of Christianity-come alive through us.  We will teach how the drama unfolded in the first 30 years after Jesus ascension and pray that God moves also through us.  Let’s experience the delight of a Holy Spirit driven renewal of faith and the church. Can’t often be a church this summer? Take us with you. All sermons will be recorded and available at our website.
Habitat Update
The interior of our second unit is taking shape. All of the base and door moldings are up, the interior doors are hung and the laminate flooring is just about complete. We’ll need to wait for the counter tops to be installed before the plumbing can be completed. So now our focus turns to the outdoors with the building of the side porch, retaining walls and landscaping for the entire duplex.

Once again we are asking for help to feed our crews. If you are interested in providing a lunch or giving us a hand with the build, please contact Peter Federspiel (petlynfed@gmail.com) and he will give you more information.
