Dear Grace Family,

This Easter morning is the reason for, and declaration of, Christian faith. Without the miracle of Easter Jesus would still call us to love, to pursue justice, to forgive, to sacrifice, to care for others. Those are really good things. If the message of Christian faith ended Friday afternoon we would still have a model, and a martyr, to inspire and guide us. His ethic deserves the admiration of His fiercest opponents. His acts of mercy, and His miracles, should soften the hardest hearts.

But if the claims of Easter morning are nothing more than the imaginations and inventions of His friends and admirers, we are back where we started, knowing our world is broken, our lives are broken, hoping that God’s cares, facing death without assurance, spending our days trying, working, toiling … or simply giving up, or pretending.

But if Easter is all it claims to be … If God really came, spoke, loved, died, and ROSE AGAIN, we know God cares, we know there is more for us beyond death, we live with growing freedom, courage, and meaning. The miracle of Easter gives us all of that … and more!

In Christ,

Curt McFarland
