A Season of Change

The Easton Peace Candle was erected on Wednesday, a harbinger of the holiday festivities to come. And much to our surprise an early blanket of white followed just a day later. Yet another blow from Mother Nature, in a season wrought with surprises. But we're fairly sure that the early snow will be a distant memory by Saturday morning, the last day of our regular season. Fortunately we have a hearty bunch of farmers and vendors who will stay on for the "Holiday Market" season.which starts on Saturday December 1st and runs through December 22nd. (Note: There is no market on Saturday November 24th)

So join us tomorrow and pick up the freshest fruits and veggies for your Thanksgiving feast - along with fresh-pressed cider, pasture-raised meats, cheese boards, specialty breads, pies, coffee, wine, kombucha and more!

An Early Departure for Blooming Glen Farm
Dear shoppers,

We all know it was a wet spring, summer, and fall. But what many of you may not realize is the toll that weather took on our farmers. We're sorry to report that Blooming Glen Farm is unable to finish out the market season due to devastating crop losses. Like most PA farmers, Blooming Glen endured one of the most difficult growing seasons on record. Their home town of Perkasie PA was particularly hard hit by the summer's extreme rains and flooding. Our hearts go out to Tricia, Tom, Sam, Brie and the entire Blooming Glen crew.

They asked that we pass along their immense gratitude to all the Easton customers, and that you take a moment to read their end-of-season blog post.

We all hope that this winter provides rest and healing for our farmers, and that 2019 brings an abundance of sunshine.

Matt & Jess will have gorgeous head lettuce, spring mix, and arugula for your holiday salads. Spinach for sauteing or creaming, and bok choy, collards, kale and kale for hearty fall dishes. There will be radishes, carrots and tender hakurei turnips for roastings, lovely scallions, cilantro and carrots; cabbage for slaw, and lots of parsley for your turkey day stuffing!

Thanksgiving Special
Thanksgiving special at Valley Milkhouse this Saturday! A selection of three cheeses for $25 to serve your hungry guests. Makes a great host gift too. VMH will also have cultured butter, cave aged Goldenrod gouda, an ultra luscious batch of Thistle (open from the top and dip in like pudding!). Witchgrass, Blue Bell, Lady’s Slipper and cider washed Hollyhock. Stop by to build a cheese board for your holiday feast! And be sure to try the Cheese Ball recipe made with VMH Clover cheese!
Thanksgiving Recipe
Valley Milkhouse Holiday Cheese Ball
16 oz Clover fromage blanc 
6 oz crumbled Blue Bell
2 tsp fresh chopped herbs (chives or dill)
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 
1/2 tsp paprika 
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup chopped celery 

Mix ingredients together at room temp. Roll into a ball, and then coat with coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts. Refrigerate until serving

Final Day of the Season
This is Jenny's last day at the market this season. Her menu will include Vegetable Tom Yum Soup - lemon grass coconut base with tofu, red bell pepper, jicama, onions and cucumber. $5; Ginger garlic cream cheese filled fried wonton -sweet and savory 6 for $5; Singapore rice noodles-(vegetarian/vegan) - curried rice noodles with vegetables $8; and Mochi with brown sugar shredded coconut wrapped in a banana leave $2 each.
Be sure to stock up on ginger garlic sauce for a stocking stuffer or for some of you holiday recipes!
Farmstand Recipes
The Farmstand has created a very special Recipe this weekend, the Salvaterra Salad! Made with Kale, Red Cabbage, Butternut Squash, Turnips, Radish, Scallions, and Parsley all grown by Salvaterra's Gardens tossed together with dried cranberries and pepita seeds. Only one batch is being made to celebrate this beautiful and delicious partnership, available while supplies last! Other vegan salads and energy bites will also be available.

Stock up - Final Day of the Season!
Another season is coming to a close for Tomblers and they are prepared for a cold
but sunny day with great "comfort" food. Karen and crew will be bringing plenty of pasties, pierogies and pizza crusts for those who need to buy extra for the winter. They'll have their famous Butter Cut Out cookies too, in cute turkey, pumpkin and leaf shapes. And of course pies!
