The Holy Trinity

Sunday Readings

Genesis 1:1—2:4a

The creation of the heavens and the earth

Psalm 8

How majestic is your name in all the earth! (Ps. 8:1)

2 Corinthians 13:11-13

Paul’s farewell to the church at Corinth

Matthew 28:16-20

Living in the community of the Trinity

Though the word trinity is not found in the scriptures, today’s second reading includes the apostolic greeting that begins the liturgy: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In the gospel Jesus sends his disciples forth to baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. More than a doctrine, the Trinity expresses the heart of our faith: we have experienced the God of creation made known in Jesus Christ and with us always through the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity in word and sacrament, as we profess the creed, and as we are sent into the world to bear witness to our faith.

Sunday Coffee Hour Hosting

Please check the coffee hour sign up sheet in the Narthex! We are in need of volunteers to host the after service coffee hour on Sundays in July & August. Thanks!

Thank You for Your Generosity

The display of paper flowers in the narthex is a beautiful reminder of the special women in our lives, but more important is the impact the purchase of these flowers will make in the lives of people recovering from storms and turmoil. Through your generosity, 101 blankets will be purchased and distributed through Church World Services.

Thank you,

The Social Ministry Committee

SEEKING HOPE in troubled times “as the deer longs for water” — that's the timeless theme of Psalm 42, the uplifting text for this concert.

Four composers' diverse interpretations will bring you a range of emotions, as the BACH choir joins with an orchestra of harpsichord, strings, horns, flutes, and oboes.

You'll discover Marianna Martines, an associate of Mozart, whose work is now getting the attention it deserves. Judith Weir, the first woman named Master of the King’s Music, chose Psalm 42 for her piece commissioned for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

You'll hear how Palestrina’s 16th-century version flows sweetly, like a refreshing stream, while Herbert Howells adds the beautiful blue notes of the 20th century.

Prayer Requests

We have two formal ways of praying for one another at Grace. One is in the Sunday morning worship service, where we pray for people by name in the Prayers of Intercession. They will also be listed in the emailed and printed versions of GraceNotes, but not in the web version. Please send prayer requests for the Sunday-morning prayers to office@glccu.org. You may also submit prayer requests on our website at https://glccu.org/prayer-requests/.

Using GLC Facilities

Our facilities are available for use by members and by outside groups. If you would like to use any part of the facility, please fill out a Facilities Use Request, found on the web site, and contact Karen in the office to ensure that it is on the calendar, so that the space is ready for you and that you are aware of how to adjust the appropriate thermostat.
