The Faculty of Graduate Studies & Research invites you to our orientation. Get the best start possible to your new academic journey by learning about all the supports and services available to you. Meet the Dean and other staff members who can guide your start. This event will be in-person in RI 119 on Friday Jan. 5, 2024 from 10-11 a.m. with an online option for those unable to attend in person.

Understanding Academic Integrity Workshop

Having an understanding of academic integrity at the start of your academic journey is fundamental to success in your graduate work. This workshop will familiarize you with principles you need to avoid academic misconduct and some of the common mistakes graduate students make. It will follow the orientation session on Friday Jan. 5, 2024 in-person in RI 119 with an online option for those unable to attend in person.

Three-Minute Thesis

Get ready for U of R's annual 3MT competition, where graduate students showcase their research and its broader impact in an under-three-minute presentation using just one static slide.

The stakes are high with cash prizes:

1st Prize - $1,500

2nd Prize - $1,000

3rd Prize - $500,

People's Choice - $500

The champion will represent the University of Regina at the regional contest in the spring.

Graduate Funding is happy to announce the new International Doctoral Student Award (IDSA). Every International PhD student will be considered for this $1,400 award and all who are eligible will receive it as credit on their tuition account. No application is required, but please read the information on our funding website to ensure you are eligible to be considered each semester.

A new semester also means a new main scholarship competition! Applications on GAP will open on Feb. 1, but you can already explore the scholarships offered through our online database or on GAP. The deadline for completed applications is Feb. 28.

SSHRC’s Storytellers Challenge asks postsecondary students to show Canadians, in up to three minutes or 300 words, how social sciences and humanities research is affecting our lives, our world and our future for the better.
