INSPIRE Research Symposium


The Interdisciplinary Series for Professional Intellectual and Research Engagement (INSPIRE) and FGSR have teamed up to host an interdisciplinary research symposium. INSPIRE Research Symposium is an opportunity to present and discuss about your research in a conference setting with other students. There are three presentation options: paper presentation, a data blitz and poster. All students who are engaging in research at any stage (proposals, completed projects) are invited. There are monetary prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for all three formats.

Dana Green


Dana Green, a biology PhD student in the Faculty of Science, has been awarded a Journal of North American Bat Research Award for her presentation titled: "Inter- and Intra-specific Differences in Fur Cortisol Levels of Three North American Migratory Bats."


Dana delivered her talk at the 51st North American Bat research conference held in Winnipeg last month.

How should I prepare for the workshop? This is an interactive workshop where participants are encouraged to bring story ideas to discuss. The key questions to answer around making a pitch: a) What's my story? (25 words or less); b) Why would a non-academic be interested? (50 words or less).


Who should attend? Currently employed researchers or academics at the U of R, postdoctoral fellows and PhD candidates can all write for the Conversation Canada. Masters students may write with a professor as a co-author.
