3MT Nationals

Kwaku Ayisi is participating in the National 3MT Showcase at the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies Conference. Only the top finalists of the 2022 regional competitions are invited to this event. Show your support on

Graduate Research Conference: Innovation Translation



Thank you to all the participants in the Graduate Research Conference. There were excellent presentations and posters and it was great to have students from different areas share their research. Well done students!

Coffee with the Dean

Every month, FGSR Dean Dr. Aziz Douai meets graduate students to discuss issues important to graduate student success. Our upcoming “Coffee with the Dean” meeting will look at Respect within Power Relationships and will feature Kayla Stefan, a Respectful University Services Coordinator. Kayla will talk about power imbalance and resources for students in managing student-supervisor relationships. Come join us on November 24 at 10:00 am in CK 226. We will have coffee, tea and donuts. Grad Night at the Owl

Did you know that graduate students who take the time to be involved in their university community and engage with their colleagues were more likely to complete their degrees? Take some time to be social and join us at the Owl. We will have staff members from Grad Studies and you are welcome to join us or sit wherever you like. Discounted food will be available at our next Grad Night on Wednesday, November 16 between 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Collaboration between the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, the Faculty of Nursing - University of Regina and the School of Nursing - Saskatchewan Polytechnic makes dreams come true. 

The Deans of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, the Faculty of Nursing - University of Regina and the School of Nursing - Saskatchewan Polytechnic celebrate with our graduates recognizing their accomplishment and to show our gratitude for the support of their families. 

Emerging Scholars

The vibrant team of graduate and undergraduate researchers at the El-Halfawy Lab are actively working towards solutions for the current antibiotic crisis. Through an interdisciplinary approach involving microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemical biology and chemogenomics, they aim to generate the knowledge base that will enable us to discover new antimicrobial strategies to fight superbugs. The student team includes graduate students: Peri Moulding, Gehad Soliman, and Joshua Adams; and undergraduate researchers: Tyler Hamelin, Aluk Geu, and Colin Rieger.

Biology Research Expo


The Biology Undergraduate and Graduate Society (BUGS) invites graduate students involved in Biology or biological research to participate in the Biology Research Expo on December 1st. This meet-and-greet style expo is designed to give undergraduates interested in BIOL 396, Honours, and Summer NSERCs a chance to discover what research areas and opportunities are available to them within Biology. Each lab will be given a table as well a poster stand to showcase their research and display any other useful information. Snacks and coffee will also be provided to participants. For any graduate students starting to think about lab or field assistants. This expo gives you a perfect opportunity to meet engaged undergraduates and start to recruit new talent to your lab!


Hosted in the RIC Atrium from 1-4pm on Dec. 1, 2022.


Globalink Research Award Thematic Call


The Globalink Research Award thematic call is now officially open! Applications can be submitted until November 25 through Fatima Dargah, Director of Business Develop at Mitacs fdargah@mitacs.ca. The application package is available online through a web form under the “How to apply” tab. 


Graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows will receive a $6,000 research award to conduct a 12- to 24-week research project in the other country.


Mitacs, Open Projects Request for Graduate Researchers

Open Projects or (Request for Researchers (RFRs) service at Mitacs is dedicated to Businesses and not-for-profit organizations looking for the right researcher to support them in their innovation projects. Mitacs works with domestic and international partners to circulate your opportunity throughout our post-secondary networks to find you candidates who are the best fit and put their skills and knowledge into practice. If you find the right project, Mitacs will connect you to the company to discuss and develop the Mitacs research proposal. If you are a researcher (undergrad, grad student or postdoc), explore the available projects using the filters, and apply using the link at the end of the project description. If you are a faculty member at a Canadian or foreign academic institution and are interested in one of these projects, please contact Fatima Dargah fdargah@mitacs.ca
