FGSR Highlights

Welcome New Graduate Students

Welcome to the University of Regina! This week, we officially begin the fall 2022 term and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research hosted new graduate students at the New Graduate Student Orientation on August 29. Again, welcome to all new and returning graduate students and best wishes for a successful academic year!

Postdoc Appreciation Week

The Faculty of Graduate Studies is celebrating National Postdoc Appreciation Week (Sept 19-23). Postdoc and PhD Students are encouraged to attend our Grant Writing workshop on Sept 21 and our Postdoc Appreciation Day on Sept 22, which includes: A panel discussion on alternative career paths, lunch and a research tour. I hope you are able to join us.

Coffee with the Dean

Every month, FGSR Dean Dr. Aziz Douai meets graduate students to discuss issues important to graduate student success. Our upcoming “Coffee with the Dean” meeting will look at Student Leadership and Engagement and will feature a conversation with U of R student leaders. Come join us on September 26 at 1:30 pm in CK 226; we will have coffee, tea and donuts. Register here.

Grad Night at the Owl

We are excited to announce the return of Grad Night. Come to the Owl on Wednesday, September 14 between 4:00 - 6:00. Do you know that graduate students who take the time to be involved in their university community and engage with their colleagues were more likely to complete their degrees. A McGill meta-analysis of graduate education showed just this. Take some time to be social and join us at the Owl. We will have staff members from Grad Studies and you are welcome to join us but you can also sit wherever you like. You will get a discount on food.

New Thesis Supports

We have new workshops and supports for thesis writer. Join a virtual writing support group. Get the some guidelines on how to write your thesis and learn how to submit your thesis and the deadlines for submission.

Graduate Research Conference

We are having an interdisciplinary conference for all graduate students on Saturday, October 22. You will be able to present your research through a presentation or a poster, regardless of the stage it is at. You will get feedback on your work, training on research dissemination, build communication skills and a chance to meet other researchers. Registration will start in October so watch out.

Graduate Student Association

The Graduate Student Association is back and working to improve the lives of students. We are looking forward to meeting with them this year.  To learn more about their plans, you can email Graduate.Students.Association@uregina.ca
