Distinguished Professor Award at Iowa State University is one of my most treasured career moments."
Last spring, Dr. Michael Bugeja became the first professor in journalism and mass communication at Iowa State University to be awarded the title of Distinguished Professor.
Despite receiving numerous other awards, including two University Professor Teaching Awards and the AMOCO Foundation Outstanding Teacher Award, Dr. Bugeja notes the Distinguished Professor title’s value: “To win the DP Award validates all the years of writing books and articles in media and technology to foster the idea of media ethics. I will treasure the award my whole life.”
Seeing his receiving of the Distinguished Professor Award at an institute of science and technology as a real distinction for a professor in the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Dr. Bugeja contributes much of his award to his fellow colleagues and students.
While being honored this award, Dr. Bugeja also thanks those who helped him on his journey, remarking that “I am indebted to Dr. Dimitrova and Dr. Dahlstrom for assembling the award packet, but I am also indebted to the teachers and faculty at this school, and to the students with whom I have shared a deep bond and who have propelled me to do the best work possible.”
