Youth Basketball Leagues Grades 3-8

Grades 3-4 / Boys & Girls

The emphasis in these leagues is sportsmanship, skill development, participation and fun. Smaller courts, lower hoops, and junior sized basketballs are used.Scores are kept.

Grades 5-6 / Boys & Girls

The emphasis in these leagues is sportsmanship, skill development, fun, and the introduction of competition. Games are played on a full-size court with two referees. Score is kept, but not standings.

Grades 7-8 / Boys & Girls

Sportsmanship, skill development, and fun is emphasized. Competition is embraced, teaching players how to win and lose with grace. Games are played on a full-size court with two referees.

November 1 Skill Day Evaluation at Sullivan Community Center (required)

• Grades 3-4: 11 AM-1 PM
• Grades 5-6: 8-9:30 AM
• Grades 7-8: 9:30-11 AM

November 17 Players are contacted by Coaches

December 1 Practices begin

January 10 Games begin (no basketball December 22-January 4)

• Teams formed by a coach's draft after Skill Evaluation Day.
• Teams practice 1-2 hours per week at various schools.
• Practice times are between 6:30-9 PM. Grades 3 and 4 are at 6:30 and 7 PM.
• Coaches create the practice schedules, therefore, specific practice requests cannot be honored.

January 10-March 14 League play at the Sullivan Community Center and local schools between 9 AM-2 PM.

VOLUNTEEER COACHES NEEDED Adults and high school students who enjoy mentoring kids. One Practice and one game per week. Please contact Robert Wood.
