Teaching & Learning Summit

The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) is excited to announce that registration is now open for the annual Teaching & Learning Summit! 

  • Date: Tuesday, May 13, 2025
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Location: Olscamp Hall
  • Theme: Thriving Together: Redefining Success and Well-Being


This year’s Summit will explore how we can foster a campus culture that supports the success and well-being of ourselves, our students, and our colleagues. 

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Liz Norell as our keynote speaker! Dr. Norell, author of The Present Professor: Authenticity and Transformational Teaching, will present “Authenticity and Presence as Well-Being Practices,” sharing insights on embracing authenticity in our work and why it matters. 


The full-day program will also include: 

  • A panel discussion on well-being and work-life balance 
  • Interactive sessions led by members of the BGSU teaching community 
  • A campus partner networking session 


All faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students are welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information on the Summit, visit the Teaching & Learning page of the CFE website.

AI or Authentic: Identifying Machine Generated Texts in Assignments 

Join this session facilitated by the CFE and the University Libraries to learn the markers of text generative written by large language AI models and discuss strategies to identify authentic student writing, and present practical classroom conversations about ethical AI use.

Summer 2025 Active Learning Certificate Program

Registration is now open for the CFE’s Active Learning Certificate Program being offered during the Summer 2025 semester. During this hybrid program, you will reflect on your current teaching practices, develop a plan for incorporating active learning into your teaching, and practice implementing active learning strategies into your classroom instruction. After successfully completing the program, you will receive a digital certificate and Canvas badge noting your accomplishment. You must be able to participate in the in-person session on Wednesday, June 25 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in Olscamp Hall, Room 106 in order to participate in the program. Registration is first-come, first-served; space is limited. Free Primary Health Screenings

This is an opportunity to access medical and social services which may be available to students on a limited budget.

 

This may include dental, mental health and behavioral therapy, and STI/D screenings (HIV, etc.) at a no cost or a lower cost. Click on flyer for more details.

Falcon Food Pantry


The Falcon Food Pantry is here to support BGSU students, faculty, and staff with nutritious and accessible food. Diapers and hygiene items are also available. All members of the BGSU community are welcome to stop by once a week to select a bag of food and hygiene items. Please bring your BGSU ID card with you.

Mental Health Care for BGSU Students

The BGSU Counseling Center is here to help you connect to mental health resources on and around campus if or when you need them.

 

  • If you need mental health support, the BGSU Counseling Center is open and available to you. To set an appointment or speak with an on-call counselor for crisis situations, call 419-372-2081 between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. You can also utilize the Wood County Crisis Line at 419-502-4673, which is open 24/7 to those in Wood County.
  • Falcon Health Chat is a free and confidential tool, available 24/7 to all BGSU students, faculty, and staff. Falcon Health Chat can help support your mental health by offering resources to help you manage anxiety and depression, relieve stress, and build resilience.
