Katzner Graduate Student Research and Professional Development
In early 1998, after 13 years as Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate College, Dr. Louis Katzner decided to return to what attracted him to higher education in the first place – the study and teaching of philosophy. One of his top priorities during his tenure as the Graduate Dean was to increase the support available to graduate students for conducting research and for professional development. The Katzner Award can be used to supplement the cost of graduate student research and professional development activities for graduate students at Bowling Green State University. Each semester, three awards will be granted ($1000, $750, and $500).

Call for Interactive Session Proposals for the Teaching & Learning Summit
The CFE is now accepting interactive session proposals for the 2025 Teaching & Learning Summit on Tuesday, May 13 in Olscamp Hall. The theme for this year’s Summit is “Thriving Together: Redefining Success and Well-Being.” Inspired by Dr Liz Norell’s keynote address, “Authenticity and Presence as Wellbeing Practices,” during this year’s summit, we will explore innovative teaching techniques, share resources for promoting well-being, and work together to redefine success in a way that honors our authentic selves and strengthens our relationships with other members of the BGSU community.
Proposed interactive sessions should have clear learning outcomes and provide participants with multiple opportunities to collaborate, interact, and engage. All members of the BGSU teaching community, including faculty, instructors, staff, and graduate students, are welcome and encouraged to submit a proposal. The CFE encourages facilitators to collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines and departments and with undergraduate students on session development and facilitation when appropriate.
The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, March 21, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Visit the Teaching & Learning Summit Call for Proposals page for more information and to submit a proposal.
