Writing Accountability Group

Do you need a designated time and space to get some writing done? Join your fellow graduate students as we work on seminar papers, theses, dissertations, or whatever else is calling your name!


The Graduate College will provide a quiet space, light refreshments, structured time, and comradery. You bring yourself, a device or a writing utensil and paper

BGSU’s Graduate College proudly celebrates the achievements and scholarly promise of our graduate students through a range of awards, fellowships, and competitions that recognize excellence in research, creative work, and teaching, as well as support professional development. Below are awards with upcoming deadlines for nomination.


Katzner Graduate Student Research and Professional Development

Supports research and professional development expenses through competitive funding.

Self-nomination | October 1 deadline | $1000, $750, and $500 Awards


Distinguished Thesis Award

Recognizes outstanding master's theses in Biological Sciences and Humanities

Department nomination | October 15 deadline | $500 Award

 

Graduate Student Teaching Award

Recognizes excellence in teaching roles as TAs or TIs.

Self-nomination | November 15 deadline | $500 Award

GRADUATE STUDENT SENATE

Fall 2025 Funding for Professional Development

The Graduate Student Senate sponsors the GSS Funding for Professional Development designed to assist graduate students with the expenses associated with attending conferences, seminars, tours, research trips, career fairs, and similar professional development experiences. FPD may also be used to fund accredited professional memberships.

Embracing Global Engagement Conference

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (CURS) invites undergraduate and graduate students of all disciplines to showcase their global, international, and intercultural work and experiences. Register to present an oral, poster, photo or video presentation on any project conducted on campus or abroad. The conference will be held Wednesday, October 15.

Ask the Dietitian

Rechelle Bischoff, MFN, RDN, LD, is the Campus Dietitian with BGSU Dining. She works with students who have food allergies or dietary restrictions and provides counseling for anyone interested in learning more about their nutrition.


Rechelle has been with the team since July 2023. A registered and licensed dietitian since April 2021, she completed her master’s degree and dietetic internship through BGSU’s dietetic program. In addition, she is an ACE-certified personal trainer.

Falcon Food Pantry

The Falcon Food Pantry is here to support BGSU students, faculty, and staff with nutritious and accessible food. Diapers and hygiene items are also available. All members of the BGSU community are welcome to stop by once a week to select a bag of food and hygiene items. Please bring your BGSU ID card with you.

Mental Health Care for BGSU Students

The BGSU Counseling Center is here to help you connect to mental health resources on and around campus if or when you need them.

 

  • If you need mental health support, the BGSU Counseling Center is open and available to you. To set an appointment or speak with an on-call counselor for crisis situations, call 419-372-2081 between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. You can also utilize the Wood County Crisis Line at 419-502-4673, which is open 24/7 to those in Wood County.
  • Falcon Health Chat is a free and confidential tool, available 24/7 to all BGSU students, faculty, and staff. Falcon Health Chat can help support your mental health by offering resources to help you manage anxiety and depression, relieve stress, and build resilience.
