GRADUATION EDITION
Now an official Carrollton High School alum, Jonathan Jackson awaits his turn to receive his diploma. Hundreds of photos of commencement are posted on Facebook.

The Class of 2020 graduates
in modified traditional ceremony
Even though it was 10 days past the original date, the Class of 2020 on June 1 officially secured its place in history as the only Carrollton High School class to hold a modified commencement ceremony caused by an outside influence - in this case, the coronavirus pandemic. The senior class still asked for - and received - a formal graduation, slightly altered to address health and safety concerns in these days of social distancing.

Graduation traditionally is the biggest annual event held in Grisham Stadium, but because of restricted attendance, this was not the case this year. A live stream of the ceremony that reached 15,000 allowed family and friends who could not attend in person to still celebrate their graduates with small watch parties at home.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020! While you have closed out this important chapter in your lives, seize the future with the same gusto and perseverance you demonstrated over the past few months. With all you've been through, there is no way you cannot succeed!

Record $21.4 million in scholarship
offers pursue CHS Class of 2020
Graduates of the Class of 2020 received $21.4 million in scholarship offers from colleges and universities, setting a new record. The average scholarship offer total over the previous five years is $13.5 million and does not include the HOPE/Zell Miller scholarship, which is projected to award an additional $1.2 million to 244 CHS graduates this year.

While many students earned scholarships for academic achievement, two graduates were presented $10,000 awards from the REACH Scholarship program for fulfilling their commitment to focus on academic success. S'Nyah Florence and Dacious Wright were named REACH Scholars as eighth graders and are the first REACH Scholarship recipients in Carrollton High School history. MORE
