Galleries on Grand:  Art Walk on Grand Avenue
  1st Friday, June 7, 2013
{9} The Gallery

Award winning local artist Christine Cassano, Aileen Frick and Patricia Jensen announced today the  series of new works entitled "Fragments de la Lumire" on exhibition at the {9} The Gallery in Phoenix, AZ.

The dates for this show are June 7, 2012 through June 30, 2012 with the Artist Reception to be held on June 21st at 7PM.

Laura Dragon curator of {9} The Gallery stated "I am very pleased to represent this show. The artist works have a synergy and movement that embodies a feminine perspective. We are honored to represent these women in Phoenix because it is where they live and work."

Christine Cassano creates intricate assemblage pieces which incorporates this concrete medium along with a variety of industrial and organic materials into her work. Objects like worn metal machined parts, spent bullets, old circuit boards, recycled glass, and hand-cast aluminum pieces share the same space with dried delicate plant life, soils, insects, bones, and other organic materials in order to create a visual dialogue exploring ideas related to our environmental integration and human adaptation. Her art has been exhibited at galleries and juried exhibitions nationally.

Aileen Frick has developed her new works in collage with oils. As for her subject matter, she finds her inspiration in life. The paintings attempt to capture that energy of that brief moment of time. It varies from portrait, to landscape, to cityscape, and in essence is a personal connection to that time. She is the recipient of Scottsdale Center for the Arts 'The Best and Brightest' award.
Patricia Jensen creates a focal point with figurative works in oil that are quantum mirror reflecting back to the viewer their individual perception.  Each piece gives a different translation to another in the way a mirror gives a different reflection.  Her original concept nourishes the soul to come to a new understanding of relevance.
{9} houses ongoing shows, events and workshops and brings an open opportunity for all mediums of fine art to Grand Avenue. {9} The Gallery will have regular posted hours and will be open for business serving exotic teas & pressed coffee. So please come and see for yourself, sit a while with us and take a sip of what {9} has to offer.

The second phase of Calaca's Heart and Symbol exhibit will be viewable through the end of June. Open First and Third Fridays during the Grand Avenue Artwalk from 6-10pm and by appointment during the month.  This group exhibit addresses the concept of contemporary Pre-Colombian art as a personal challenge that has brought conflicting reactions from some anthropologists and archeologists.  For them, you cannot have a contemporary and ancient concept fused together, as it is contradicts itself, due to its past and present terms. For the artists in this exhibit, it is a natural lineal marriage that represents indigenous norms and rules of ancient America.

Chandelier earrings are this year's Summer fashion and big bold rings are a must have.

A gift suggestion for Fathers Day this year - what to give the man who's hard to by for?
What about a gift certificate for custom designed jewelry? Huge fingers? Can't wear rings? I can create what ever size needed.   Big neck? I can make any size chain.

Or how about a jewelry class?  Dad could make his own ring or pendant and learn how to make you something, too.

Donna hats and hair accessories where a hit at Showcasing the Arts. With my jewelry we created over the top ensembles for the show. Her creations are on display during Art Walk.
Custom orders accepted with deposit.

I am an artist on a mission to build a legacy of 21st century artifacts - mostly jewelry, sculptures, some recipes, and a few paintings. Living in Phoenix since I was 4 years old has given me a feel for the southwest expressed through modern design. I have been creating sterling silver jewelry for the last 14 years.  My jewelry is inspired by womenbeautiful, intriguing, and sometimes complex - each one is unique. I have been sculpting most of my life and I love to build.

Teresa Moore

Friday, May 7, 10am-9pm,

You'll find them in the corner of a smoky 1920s Paris nightclub, or half-hidden behind the plush red curtain at a New York theater. Teresa Moore's luminous femme fatales smolder under the stage lights.

Their sultry eyes gaze steadily back at you as a smile plays across their full, lacquered mouths.
Using a cocktail palette of rich reds, deep blues, and glowing yellows, the artist creates these lush portraits set in a world of dusky glamour,  conjuring images from bawdy brothels decked in sumptuous red velvet to whisky-soaked cabarets brimming with lusty jazz strains.

Notice the defined graphic lines, sharp angles and vibrant colors of these works, which accentuate the bold sensuality of these women.  Glamorous and vulnerable, they contemplate a noir netherworld somewhere between dusk and twilight.

Self-taught and painting mainly with her fingers, Moore creates an atmosphere of nightlife, good times and fleeting romances. Her images bring to life a world at once sensuous, sophisticated, sometimes  sweet yet always alluring.

And these decadent dames get around. Moore's work is exhibited and around the globe.  Moore's fiery independence shows through in these characters, who all seem to have their own checkered pasts, drawn from deep within the artist's own fantasies and realities, past and present.
