Combating Illegal Overnight Parking During Warmer Months

Earlier this week, Alderman Reilly sent a letter to 18th Police District Commander Michael Neckermann and Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Cole Stallard requesting tow missions at the following locations this summer:

  • North McClurg Court, from Ogden Slip to East River Drive
  • Centennial Fountain at 400 North McClurg Court
  • West Erie Street, between North Orleans Street and North Larrabee Street
  • West Hubbard Street, between North Orleans Street and North State Street
  • North Franklin Street, between West Hubbard Street and West Erie Street

The purpose of these tow missions is to deter people who illegally park overnight in prohibited parking spaces and engage in illegal activities, such as drinking alcohol and playing loud music. The Alderman sent the tow mission request to get ahead of the issues we have seen in the Ward when the weather gets warmer.

We encourage all residents to continue to call 9-1-1 if an issue requires immediate attention. To raise concerns directly to your local Chicago Police officers, we encourage you to attend your local CAPS meetings for your police beat.
