Dawn's 2017
Hero Award Winners
The Jennifer Politakis Award:
Jennifer Politakis was a member of Dawn’s Board of Directors from 2002-2008. She is remembered for her energy and can-do attitude.  There was nothing she wouldn’t do when it came to ending domestic violence.

This award recognizes a couple who we believe shares those same characteristics.  John and Valerie Backus.  This wonderful couple has been supporters of dawn for 15 years.

O. David Jackson
  The Terri Kimball Award:

Terri Kimball served as DAWN’s executive director from 2001-2006.  In that time, she was a fearless advocate and activist for women and children experiencing domestic violence.  And she didn’t do it alone, Terri reached out to those able to help, asking them to stand up and take action. She formed domestic violence coalitions and moved the issue out of hiding in society and right onto the agenda of legislative and community leaders.

This award recognizes individuals with that same driving force.  This year's Terri Kimball Award was presented to Dawn’s past Board President and current board member, O. David Jackson.

David Martin
We want to say a huge Thank You to David Martin from the King County Prosecuting Attorney's office.  He was the guest speaker at our Dawn of a New Day Breakfast.
Mr. Martin shared the latest statistics on violence in South King County, and chilling audio of offenders threatening victims during phone calls they make from jail.  He helped show the need for people to take action to keep survivors of domestic violence safe.
