Save the date for the grand opening of the new Orange Memorial Park Sports Field on Wednesday, October 18 at 6:30 p.m. The event will kick-off at 6:30 p.m. with a first pitch and first kick ceremony followed by games by the SSF United Youth Soccer League and the SSF Youth Baseball Managers Association. The field will open at 5:00 p.m. The field is located at West Orange Avenue and Memorial Drive. Visit www.ssf.net/parkprojects to learn more.

The City of South San Francisco is excited to announce the grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration of the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the corner of Chestnut and El Camino Real, 901 Civic Campus Way. This project has been in the works since November of 2015 when voters passed Measure W, the ½ cent sales tax which is making possible so many quality-of-life improvements for our community.

In preparation for the grand opening of the Library | Parks and Recreation Center, the last day of in-person service at the Recreation Office in the Municipal Services Building (33 Arroyo Drive) will be on Friday, October 13. Special Events

It's that time of the year to get into the Halloween spirit with this fun event for all community members to enjoy! Festivities will include a pumpkin patch, games, food, and more. We hope to see you there and costumes are always encouraged!


Resident Registration to visit the Pumpkin Patch and Floating Pumpkin Patch opens Friday, October 6 at 6:00 a.m. online.

Fun Run 2023 (Oyster Point Marina Park)


The 50th anniversary of South San Francisco’s Annual Thanksgiving Fun Run will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023 starting at 9:00 a.m. This event is a great opportunity for community members of all ages to stay active. Whether you are looking for some challenging competition, an excuse for an enjoyable family stroll along the beautiful Bay Trail, or a route convenient to your location, this race is for you!  


Community members can join the Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Oyster Point Marina Park. Participants will be rewarded prizes for top finishers in each age group.  Pre-registration participants will receive a free t-shirt.


  • Adults: $.50 cents
  • 13 – 17 years of age: $.50 cents
  • 12 - Under: FREE
  • Shirts: FREE for all pre-registered participants 10 years of age and older (Shirts will not be available for purchase the day of the event).

Holiday Schedule


All South San Francisco Parks and Recreation programs and offices will be closed on Monday, October 9, 2023 in observance of Indigenous Peoples' Day. We will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Fall 2023 Classes & Aquatic Classes


Classes are now in session for the fall through the month of December. If you are still interested in joining a class, you may be in luck! Our Recreation Administration team can assist you in enrolling in one or several of our classes during the fall session.

FALL ACTIVITY GUIDE

Reservations for 2023 Picnic Season - Ending in October!



Our picnic rentals are open for reservation through the end of this month on October 29, 2023. Picnic sites are still available to rent online at www.ssf.net/rec-catalog. In person service is available at the Municipal Services Building through Friday, October 13. Weekday picnics cannot be reserved online. Please call the Recreation office at (650) 829-3800 with any questions.

Pickleball Nets, Rules, and Regulations


New rules have been posted for both tennis and pickleball players at the Buri Buri Park, Stonegate, and Westborough courts for equitable use between user groups. We encourage community members to familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations of the courts to better maximize your court time. Private Rentals at the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center


The new Library | Parks and Recreation Center will have a Banquet Hall and a Social Hall available to rent for private events. If you are interested in renting this facility, please click here to submit an interest form. By submitting this form your name will be placed on an interest list, this does not guarantee your event date. Please click here for rental fees for this facility.

Sign Hill Stewards Habitat Restoration


Many rare plant and animal species live on Sign Hill’s native grasslands, including the endangered mission blue butterfly. Help us conserve and restore their habitat by installing native plants and removing invasive plants! Sign Hill Stewards will do important work while also learning more about the wildlife in their backyard. Click here for more information and to register.

Roberta Cerri Teglia Center - Officially Reopened!


The Roberta Cerri Teglia Center has officially reopened. Programs and services have now relocated back to the center.
