Transbay bus service begins on Sunday, August 12th.
San Francisco's new transbay transit terminal, named the Salesforce Transit Center, will have it's grand opening celebration this Saturday, August 11th and transbay bus service will begin on Sunday, August 12th.
The transit center, which includes a 5.4 acre public rooftop park, stretches two blocks between Beale and Second streets, just south of Mission Street. Its upper bus deck will service AC Transit buses, WestCAT, Amtrak Thruway, Greyhound buses, and SFMTA/Muni service to Treasure Island. East Bay commuters entering the city by bus will avoid traffic as they travel above downtown streets from the Bay Bridge into an elevated concourse. The street-level bus plaza will serve seven major SFMTA/Muni lines.
The Salesforce Transit Center Grand Opening celebration is taking place from noon to 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 11th. This free block party is open to the public and will include food trucks, music, family-friendly activities, and a special sneak preview of the bus service. SFMTA is asking attendees to enter the event on Fremont Street, between Howard and Mission.
Please be aware of possible congestion and detours downtown on Saturday due to the block party.
