Yes, but what's a "dry cow?" A dry cow is a pregnant cow that isn't milking twice a day. About two months before calving, a cow's milk supply diminishes and she is moved to the dry cow pen where she is fed a special diet for very expectant moms.
A visit to our dry cow pen is a part of our hands-on tours! Hands-on tours are Monday-Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Reservations required.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of our Cedar Falls store, and we’re ushering in the milestone with a Grand Reopening of our newly remodeled space.
We opened our Cedar Falls location in 2007, and we've appreciated everyone's support as we've expanded over the last two years. Our customers are top of mind in this celebration!
We'll be offering a hearty lunch for just $6. The menu includes a choice of a 1/4-pound Hansen’s Wagyu-Holstein burger or hot dog; Hansen's cheese curds; fruit; chips; pop; and an ice cream cone.
Visitors can explore our newly remodeled store, which features a spacious, bright interior, fresh exterior and expanded product offerings.
There will be goodie bags and kids games, and four gift baskets will be given away as door prizes. We’ll also offer $3 gallons of milk during the event.

Our Wagyu-Holstein beef recently was given a Prime grade, the highest grade of beef in the U.S.! Did you know just 2% of beef earns that grade?
Prime beef has abundant marbling and is considered high-end beef -- juicy, flavorful and tender.

Hansen's Wagyu-Holstein beef is available at our three store locations. Cuts include filet, ribeye, New York strip and, upon request, brisket. We also offer Wagyu-Holstein ground beef by the pound and in 1/3-pound patties, beef sticks in three flavors -- Cheddar Cheese, Jalapeno Cheddar and plain -- as well as Wagyu-Holstein beef jerky and summer sausage.

June is National Dairy Month, a time to celebrate nature's delicious, nutritious powerhouse!
Good nutrition is the foundation of good health, and milk and other dairy products pack a particularly strong nutritional punch, says the International Dairy Foods Association.
Cow’s milk alone delivers 13 essential nutrients, says the IDFA, noting milk provides 22% of the calcium, 40% of vitamin D and 10% of the potassium needed daily for good health. Milk also is a good source of protein and A and B vitamins.

Our June Customer of the Month is Stephanie Geltz.
The Geltz family enjoys a bevy of Hansen's products, including milk, cheese and ice cream. A family favorite from our Cedar Falls store is Papa D's Special pizza.
"Truly amazing flavor! We love the real cheese!" Stephanie said. "All dairy products taste the best from Hansen's. My son and I are dairy-sensitive. Both of us can digest Hansen's dairy products better than other products."
Stephanie, an educator, also credits Hansen's for supporting agricultural education through farm tours.
"I appreciate that Hansen's allows local students to tour a dairy farm in action," she said. "Most students have not been on a farm. Hansen's is always willing to educate the kids (hopefully future farmers) whenever we ask to visit."

Our June Cow of the Month is one special lady!
Button recently marked a major milestone, giving birth to the 4,000th heifer on the Hansen Dairy farm.
Button and her baby girl, Brooch, are doing well! This photo was taken by Tara Papendorf just minutes after Brooch was born. Tara, a teacher, was touring the farm with her kindergarten class.
Mama Button, who turns 3 this summer, is always one of the first eight cows to enter the milking parlor at milking time. She's on the shorter side, which means she fits well in the barn and the parlor.
Herd Manager Blake Hansen says Button is "extremely easy to work with. I wish I had a barn full of Buttons!"

Ingredients
- 1 quart fresh strawberries**
- 1 24-ounce container Country View Dairy Strawberry Yogurt*
- 1-2 Tbsp Big Timber Maple Syrup*
- 1⁄2-1 cup Hansen’s Dairy milk*
- 1⁄2 cup O'Brien's Own Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Gourmet Granola*

Directions
- Remove leaves from strawberries and cut into 1-inch chunks.
- Place cut strawberries into 2-quart blender or food processor; pulse until finely chopped or almost pureed.
- Add yogurt, milk and syrup.
- Blend for 10-15 seconds or until well blended.
- Pour into glasses and top each shake with 1-2 Tbsp granola.
