May 6, 2024

Dear Baker families,

Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day is coming up. We are sending these details to all Baker families plus those who have RSVP'd for the event, so that you are aware of the plans for the day.

Keep in mind if you registered on behalf of someone, it would be great if you can forward this message on!

We have communicated the general schedule as a 9:00 a.m. start. Please know that we will have the breakfast reception prepared and will be ready to welcome everyone as early as 8:15 a.m. to coincide with our regular drop off time.

Following are some important details:

Baker Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day

Friday, May 10, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

Baker Demonstration School

201 Sheridan Rd.

Wilmette, IL 60091

Breakfast Reception

9:00 a.m. - 9:20 a.m. in the Baker Library (Arrive anytime after 8:15 a.m.)

A light breakfast, coffee and juice will be served.

Guests Visiting Multiple Students

We realize it can be difficult for guests who have multiple students at the school. You are welcome to divide the visiting hour of 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. however you would like. If there are multiple guests it might be easiest for each guest to dedicate their full time to one student each. If you are splitting time, we suggest visiting your younger student first.

Parking

If the Baker parking lot is full when you arrive, please park at Baha'i House of Worship north of Baker on Sheridan Road for parking in their east lot, which will be marked with a Baker lawn sign. We have asked staff to park remotely to free up as many spaces as possible.

Check-In

When you arrive at Baker, please check-in at our registration table and get your name tag. We will direct you to the library for our breakfast reception. You will have the opportunity to join your grandchildren or loved ones in class after breakfast. We will conclude our morning with a special program back in the library.

We are looking forward to hosting you at Baker.

Warmly,

Special Tribute to Loved Ones

We are creating an area in the library so students can pay tribute to special loved ones. We know that Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day can be a hard day for some children and we want to create a special space for those who wish to participate.

Guidelines:

1) Make copies of photos rather than sending originals as they may have thumbtack marks/might not get returned home.

2) Ask your children to use 8.5 x 11 sized paper or smaller to include memories of all loved ones they wish to pay tribute to. Ideas include: memories, poems, drawings.

Please send photos/memories to communications@bakerdemschool.org Please include the student's name and grade. Please send items by Wed. May 8th to allow time to print. There will also be a basket available in the library for collection. Items may be dropped off there anytime.
