Competitive Grant Cycle Now Open  

The Grant Cycle is now open.


All applications must be submitted online by Friday,
July 28, 2017. Please keep in mind that the online application is a two step process and you must submit both portions in order to have a complete application.  No incomplete applications will be considered. This is CFDRR's only call for grant applications for the 2018 cycle.

Halifax County awarded more than $1.2 million in grants since 1996

A surprise grant of $3,000 was awarded to Halifax County-South Boston Library System by The Community Foundation of the Dan River at a May 22 luncheon for Halifax County supporters and potential donors at the Prizery. The grant is in honor of the Foundation's 20th anniversary and will be used to enhance and expand the library's 2017 Summer Reading Program to children and youth in Halifax County.
 
Halifax County has received more than $1.2 million in grants and scholarships from The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region since it began in 1996. The complete listing of grants was shared. Information was also provided about the online grant cycle for Halifax County nonprofit organizations which will open in early August at http://www.cfdrr.org/grants/halifax-county/.

Board Member receives prestigious award

Phillip Hayes joined The Community Foundation's Board of Directors in 2015. Phillip is part of the Distribution Committee, which works on the grant and scholarship process. This year at the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce's Annual Awards Dinner, Phillip recieved the PACE (Professional and Community Engagement) award. The PACE award is given to young professionals in the area between the ages of 25-40 who have made contributions to the Dan River Region through achievements and volunteer/community service.  We are so proud of you, Phillip!

 

Help support the Pittsylvania County
Animal Shelter Fund

 
Special naming opportunities and brick sales are now available to allow a variety of ways to support the new Pittsylvania County Animal Shelter being constructed on Route 29 in Blairs.

Now you can support the new Animal Shelter, while also honoring the memory of a beloved pet, commemorating a special occasion or proclaiming your love and support of animals in need. A variety of giving opportunities are available here.

Personalized Bricks may also be ordered to celebrate or memorialize your most important people, pets and dates for years to come. Each engraved brick will be a visible part of the main entrance and garden area. Engraved bricks may be ordered in two sizes:  
4"x8" bricks - $100 
8"x8" bricks - $200

General donations may also be given to the Pittsylvania County Animal Shelter Endowment Fund to support continuing animal care and services at the Shelter - emergency vet care, spay and neuter services, food, transportation, etc.


Any of the above tax deductible gifts may be designated for the Pittsylvania County Animal Shelter through The Community Foundation, 541 Loyal Street, Danville, VA 24541. Online gifts can be made by clicking the "Please Donate" button below. A portion of every donation will go to provide long-term support for the shelter.

Business After Hours will be hosted by the Pittsylvania County Animal Shelter and The Community Foundation Thursday, June 29 5:30 PM at the Animal Shelter located on US-29, just north of Chatham Middle School.  
 
 
 
20th Anniversary Luncheon for Caswell County Held at Caswell Pines Golf Course

A surprise grant of $3,000 was awarded to Caswell Friends of the Library by The Community Foundation of the Dan River at a May 17 luncheon for Caswell County supporters, grant recipients, and potential donors at Caswell Pines Golf Course. The grant is in honor of the Foundation's 20th anniversary and will be used to expand and increase the impact of the children's and teen summer reading program at Gunn Memorial Library for the community's young patrons.

Caswell County has received more than $1.2 million in grants and scholarships from The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region since it began in 1996. The complete listing of grants was shared. Information was also shared about the online grant cycle for nonprofit organizations which will open in early June.
