"Arts Around the Fire" Networking Event in Newport


Join the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County for Arts Around the Fire on Wed., March 26, from 6–8 p.m. at Sardella’s Restaurant, 30 Memorial Blvd. West, Newport. This free, public event requires no reservations.


Special guests Todd Trebour, Executive Director of RISCA, and Sara Leonard, RISCA’s Deputy Director, will share insights on grants, program opportunities, and the current funding landscape for artists and cultural organizations.


Arts Around the Fire is an opportunity for artists, writers, performers and audiences to engage with colleagues about events affecting the cultural community, and to learn about new ideas and artistic endeavors. Learn more about the event.

Atrium Gallery seeks artists for Art Unites Communities Exhibition


RISCA’s Atrium Gallery invites artists working in any medium to submit their artwork for consideration in a group exhibition from Sept. 26, 2025, to Jan. 21, 2026. This exhibition celebrates art, creativity, and understanding by bringing together artists from across Rhode Island.


Eligibility: Artists must be R.I. residents; students are not eligible. Selected artists will be notified.


Submission Details: Interested artists should email 2–3 JPEG images of their artwork along with an artist statement to Elena.patino@arts.ri.gov by April 14.


About the Atrium Gallery: Located on the main floor of the Administration Building at One Capitol Hill, Providence, the Atrium Gallery is overseen by RISCA. It hosts rotating multidisciplinary exhibits featuring local artists and cultural organizations from diverse communities. The public gallery has become a destination for visitors and those frequenting the Administration offices, while also enriching the daily environment for hundreds of state workers.

Information sessions on Call to purchase art for R.I. Dept. of Labor and Training Facility

 

We are working with the R.I. Department of Labor and Training to purchase artwork for R.I. DLT’s buildings in Cranston. This Call is open to all artists residing in Rhode Island. Undergraduate students are not eligible to apply. Only applications from the artist who created the work(s) will be accepted.


The deadline is April 28.

R.I.'s new Health Laboratory to have exhibit space


RISCA has partnered with the R.I. State Health Laboratory to exhibit artwork in its newly constructed building's first-floor corridor at 150 Richmond St., Providence, a state-of-the-art custom-built facility. This new public gallery space, which will be visible from the sidewalk level, will feature for six months solo exhibitions of artwork that preferably sit at the intersection of art, science, innovation and discovery.

Basic details:

  • Only Rhode Island artists can apply.
  • $2,500 honorarium for 6-month artwork loan.
  • Application Deadline is April 14.


Applications will be reviewed by a panel of artists and community members.

Rhode Island College's Gaige Hall seeks artwork


RISCA is working with Rhode Island College (RIC) on a Call for art for its Gaige Hall, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, 600 Mount Pleasant Ave., Providence. The selection panel stated that an artwork for Gaige Hall might create a welcoming atmosphere, increase collaborative space, and support a sense of community. It also could be a series of artworks that might unite the various spaces throughout, create wayfinding, present an unfolding narrative or be in sequence.


  • Who can apply: All professional artists nationally. (Students are not eligible to apply).
  • Budget: $229,000 all inclusive.
  • Application Deadline: April 21.
