About the HobbleJog Foundation

The HobbleJog Foundation was created to help improve the quality of life for individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Our primary focus is to support proven and innovative post-acute services that strengthen the independence, productivity, and well-being of TBI survivors.

We provide grants on a national scale to qualified organizations that provide post-acute resources. Our grants are funded by donations derived from our fundraising efforts.

Traumatic Brain Injury

According to the Centers for Disease Control, TBI is a leading cause of death and disability for all age groups in America affecting as many as 1.5 million Americans. It’s often referred to as the “invisible injury” because many individuals experience cognitive, emotional, and motor skill challenges long after the more obvious injuries have healed.

As a result, individuals with brain injury can often benefit from services that complement and strengthen their cognitive functions as well as reinforce their social and emotional well-being.

Grant Description

Post-acute services include but are not limited to; technology services to assist in the regaining of memory, focus, and goal-setting functions, neuropsychological evaluations and interventions, adjustment counseling services, stress interventions, vocational training, transitional home, and community support.

Examples of past grant funding include:

  1. LifeBridge Health Brain Injury Services, Baltimore MD. This grant helped provide intensive post-acute care services including providing technology services to assist in the regaining of memory, focus, and goal setting functions.
  2. Brain Injury Association of North Carolina (BIANC). This grant allowed BIANC to provide a week-long camp for TBI survivors.
  3. Technology Support Grant. This grant provided technology support to a TBI survivor accepted to college.
  4. Love Your Brain. This grant allows TBI survivors to participate in the Love Your Brain program at no cost to them. Love Your Brain provides yoga, retreat, and mindset programs to build community and foster resilience for people affected by TBI.
  5. Brain Injury Association of Maryland (BIAMD). The BIAMD grant helps the organization reach and advocate for individuals and families impacted by traumatic brain injury.
  6. Brain Education Strategies & Technology (BEST). The BEST grant helped fund a pilot iOS app training program to help 10 young adults with brain injuries return to school or the workforce. BEST is a non-profit organization with a national focus on helping traumatic brain injury survivors regain their independence and productivity.

Award Description

Grants are typically between $5,000 and $15,000 for one year. For 2022, the HobbleJog Board has agreed to award two grants of $5,000 each.  The selected grant recipients will receive a check in the award amount made payable to the organization.
