Coming in February, The Children’s Trust will be looking for applicants for a new 5-year funding cycle that will start October 2022.
Do you provide wraparound care coordination services for children, youth and their families facing life challenges and/or with unique needs that limit them from reaching their full potential? Family and neighborhood support partnerships (FNSP) offer comprehensive and individualized supports that amplify strengths and build resilience.
Or, do you offer professional development supports like coaching, peer learning, live training or online courses for staff who serve children and families? The Trust is seeking experts in youth development, family services, inclusion of children with disabilities, oral health, organizational capacity, racial equity, diversity and inclusion (REDI), and social-emotional wellness (SEW).

UM Team COACH: Finding Stress Management Strategies that Work for You
|
|
Months of coping with the stressors of quarantines, social distancing, shutdowns, losses, grief, uncertainty, and anxiety are taking a toll on our emotional health. If you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed, you are not alone! In this training, you will learn and practice several stress reduction strategies to calm your body and mind. These techniques may also be used with parents and families that you work with. Appropriate for front-line providers serving families.

Getting Fathers to be Involved in Parenting Programs
|
|
Involving fathers in parenting programs has positive effects on children’s learning and social-emotional development. However, in some instances, it can be difficult to recruit fathers or father figures into services and keep them engaged. In this course, you will learn about diverse family structures, including the importance of using an inclusive definition of "father"’ You will also learn practical strategies to recruit, engage, support and retain fathers and father figures in services.
This online training course is available on Trust Academy and is appropriate for family service direct program staff and administrators.
Communities of Practice for Parenting Program providers are back up and running! Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. If you have any questions or would like additional support, please contact teamcoach@miami.edu.
We know that this uncertain time may be challenging and overwhelming for providers. We believe that, as a community, we have the strength to support one another. During this time, our CoPs will contain extra discussion surrounding COVID-19 and the impact it’s having on your programs, relationships with families, etc.
Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - This CoP will be held on the first Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment - This CoP will be held on the first Thursday of each month from 10-11 a.m. In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Virtual recruitment will be an ongoing topic. Count Me In: Discovering Inclusion for Kids -learn fun, meaningful activities to do with your students to build their disability awareness, and encourage them to appreciate differences. This training helps develop Social-Emotional Skills for children.
Structures for Success - Youth both with and without disabilities can behave in challenging ways. Learn the seven basic needs youth exhibit and take away strategies for meeting these needs through positive, preventive approaches. This training is especially relevant to YEN and YAS Providers.

Funding Available for Programs That Reduce Recidivism for Incarcerated Individuals *
|
The Aventiv Technologies Community Impact Fund is accepting applications for grant funding in support of programs that reduce recidivism rates for individuals who are currently, or have been previously incarcerated. The Fall 2021 grant opportunity is open to 501(c)3 public charities operating in Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, or New York. The average grant award amount will be between $25,000 and $50,000.
Applications will be accepted online through November 15 at 5 p.m. (CST). Late, mailed, and e-mailed applications will not be accepted.

Department of Children and Families New Online Abuse Reporting Feature *
|
The Florida Department of Children and Families' new online abuse reporting feature makes it even easier to report suspected abuse. Child care providers are required to report suspected abuse, abandonment, or neglect pursuant to Section 39.201(1)(a), Florida Statutes. Individuals who file a report will receive a confirmation email saying if their report was accepted for investigation or not, as well as the I.D. of the abuse counselor that reviewed the report. To file a report online, click here.
To report an allegation in Spanish or Creole, please call 1.800.962.2873, for TTY use 711 or 1.800.955.8771. This toll-free number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with counselors waiting to assist you.

Hope Florida -A Pathway to Prosperity, a new initiative spearheaded by First Lady Casey Desantis and implemented by the Florida Department of Children and Families, utilizes Care Navigators to guide Floridians on an individualized path to prosperity by focusing on community collaboration between the private sector, faith-based community, nonprofits and government entities to break down traditional community silos, in an effort to maximize resources and uncover opportunities.
These Care Navigators are essential in helping individuals identify their unique and immediate barriers to prosperity, develop long-term goals, map out a strategic plan, and work to ensure all sectors of the community have a 'seat at the table' and are part of the solution.

Touching Miami With Love in West Homestead is having its annual Fall Festival & Disability Resource Fair on Friday, October 29 from 5:30-8:30 p.m., 1350 SW 4th Street Homestead FL 33030.
