Olivia focuses on empowering the rising generation to find their place within their family’s philanthropy. She works with clients to address the opportunities and challenges of multi-generational engagement, succession planning, and stewardship in ways that are both practical and values-driven.
Olivia has built her career around people and impact. She brings both a deep familiarity with large, multi-generational family foundations and a passion for helping families work together productively and joyfully. While consistently inspired by the legacy and generosity of her great-grandparents, Olivia learned of philanthropy directly from her grandfather, Marvin. The consummate volunteer, he modeled philanthropy for Olivia and her cousins, always dedicating his time and energy to help others.
“I was immediately drawn to GPA after meeting Kaky and the team," said Olivia. "They approach families and philanthropy with compassion, integrity, and a genuine commitment to community impact. I am inspired by the intentional way that GPA approaches multi-generational engagement, such as offering Legacy in Motion, which fills a need for GPA’s clients and the philanthropic landscape.”
After a successful decade working in sales and marketing strategy for wholesale luxury goods companies, Olivia shifted her career into the social impact sector, working as Director of Development for the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life. As a fourth generation family member of the Dallas-based M.B. and Edna Zale Foundation, Olivia has had the privilege to serve the foundation over the last 15 years in a variety of capacities, including within grantmaking, hiring, next generation engagement, service learning, education, and strategic planning. As the current Vice Chair of the Board, Olivia is the first member of her generation to serve in a Board leadership position. She is motivated by her family’s shared values and is inspired by the passion, and ever-increasing participation, of her nearly seventy fourth generation cousins and their spouses.
Olivia graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Originally from New York City, Olivia lives with her husband in Chicago, where she is an active member of Chicago Women in Philanthropy and the Young Women's Giving Council of the Chicago Foundation for Women.
“Olivia brings a perspective that can’t be taught and is earned through lived experience, reflection, and care for family systems,” said Kaky Grant, Founder and Principal of Grant Philanthropic Advisors. “Her ability to listen closely, ask the right questions, and guide families through generational dynamics will elevate our work in meaningful ways. We feel incredibly fortunate to welcome her to GPA and to now have a bench of five advisors ready to meet clients where they are in their philanthropic journey."
