Township Receives Funding For Storm Sewers

Whitpain recently received $220,416 through a 2023 Community Project Funding request for the Ambler Alley Storm Sewer Project, which will take place in West Ambler.

The project involves the installation of storm sewer pipe along Ambler Alley which will help alleviate existing drainage concerns along the roadway.

“Improving infrastructure is vital to making our communities safer and better connected. I’m delighted to have secured community project funding for Whitpain Township that will do just that,” Representative Madeleine Dean said. “This funding for the Ambler Alley Storm Sewer Project will help alleviate drainage concerns and strengthen the roadway for better, safer stormwater management. I look forward to continuing our work together on environmental and economic improvements in the community.”

Leaf And Yard Waste Collected Next Week

Leaf and yard waste will be collected Monday, January 23 on the south side of Skippack Pike and Wednesday, January 25 on the north side of Skippack Pike. Christmas trees should be placed at the curb for collection.

Leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags and put out at the curb the evening before the scheduled collection. As a reminder, please don’t rake leaves to the curb and do not place leaf waste and branch trimmings in plastic bags or in trash can containers. They will not be collected.

If your pickup is missed, you must call the Township the day of collection at 610-277-2400. This program is not available to private communities.

The Township is no longer selling paper bags for leaf collection. Bags are available for purchase at many hardware stores, supermarkets and warehouse stores.

Woodchip Bin Being Rebuilt

The Township’s popular woodchip bin at the corner of Wentz and Jolly Roads is slated to be rebuilt in time for the spring planting season.

The previous enclosure was showing signs of rapid deterioration so Public Works crews removed the wooden structure and will replace it with a more durable enclosure built from masonry construction.

From The EAC: Electrify Everything

Many people are helping to combat climate change by replacing their non-electric appliances (think gas stove, oil burner….) with electric ones. The good news is that there are lots of rebates and tax credits available now and in the near future to help reduce the cost of electrification. Click here to learn more.
