LOTS OF WAYS TO RECYCLE AND DONATE TO CHARITIES
BUY NOTHING FACEBOOK PAGE - Post your items on the Buy Nothing Facebook page and share with others.
REALLY, REALLY FREE MARKET at Himmel Park near the tennis courts on the third Saturday of every month. Winter hours 9 -11, Summer 8 - 1.
BRINGING OUT THE BEST THRIFT SHOP on Speedway. Beyond what they can sell, they recycle everything: rags, unusable clothing, old shoes, appliances, etc. They shred clothing that is no longer wearable and use it as stuffing in dog and cat beds for rescue groups.
TUCSON REPAIR CAFE - check with them first through their Facebook page, but they often accept electronics and appliances, small household items, etc, that can be repaired or be taken apart to use for parts.
SUBURBAN MINERS located one block west of Alvernon. They repurpose and recycle all kinds of electronic equipment. They also accept other household items and have a "Free Store" open to the public. Suburban Miners is located about a mile away on Blacklidge just a block off Alvernon.
ELECTRONICS RECYCLING: SWS Computers on Speedway, just west of Alvernon quite near us, recycles nearly anything electronic for free.
A few of the many, many wonderful charities where you can make donations:

| | New Environmental Services AP | |
Do you ever wonder if you can throw certain things away? Or where? Or when? Well, wonder no more. The City of Tucson Environmental Services now has a new website and handy dandy app that you can use to answer these questions. You can now learn about all the different programs the City of Tucson has to offer, things like recycling, zero waste, household hazardous waste, and much more. There is even a section for tips and tricks.
There is plenty more to explore on the site and the app. The Environmental Services Department has done a stellar job putting this together in a user-friendly interface. Go to the following link https://www.knowwheretothrow.com/ to check out the new site or download the app on your phone and enjoy!

Why so successful?
Because so many people:
- shopped
- donated plants and garden art
- volunteered
- brought their friends
- from other neighborhoods helped
and because this is a great neighborhood!
Question often asked: How do you use the funds? Funds are used to pay for speed bumps, traffic circle art, little free libraries, entrance signs, street signs, message boards, donations to Lend-A-Hand, special events, legal fees, website/newsletter fees, etc.
Comments: "That is the best plant sale I ever been to!" "It was so well organized" and it had the "nicest sales help!"
| | DONATIONS AND MEMBERSHIPS | |
Consider donating to the neighborhood non-profit,
Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc., a 501c3 organization. Find out how to pay your dues to Jefferson Park Association.
| | Press the Donate Button to go to the JPNA website where you can access a link to donate or get a copy of the dues form. | |
AND NOW THE FIX! JPNA met with AZ Arts Foundation and are in contact with Department of Transportation about the issue. The fate of the sculpture in the circle will be determined in the near future. The preliminary plan is for the original artist to work with the neighborhood to create a new piece that reflects the significance of the historic intersection - the first homestead and the homes of Annie Lester, the German immigrant who settled the area, named our streets, built several homes and brought a school to the neighborhood.

| | TEP Files Appeal to Mayor and Council | |
TEP continues to pursue their goal of overheading lines in three major intersections. They recently filed an appeal, asking the Mayor and Council to overturn the Zoning Examiner's decision which prohibits it. The Underground Coalition sent a letter to Mayor and Council asking them to follow the city plans and ordinances and to uphold the Zoning Examiner's ruling - no overheading. To read the entire document from the Coalition, go to: http://www.jeffersonpark.info/tep-138-kv-poles.html

| | CONSTRUCTION STARTED - EDISON STREET | |
1. The Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility realized that, since we are a historic neighborhood, the water mains should be checked before they proceeded further with paving. The water main on Edison, between Mountain and Cherry, needed to be replaced before the roadwork could be done.
2. The work on Edison’s water main will consist of a new water main, new service lines and meters for the residents along this stretch.
3.SHUT DOWN OF SERVICE - "We will send out notification letters usually a week prior to the shutdown of the existing water main so that the residents are aware of the work and disruption of service. The contractor will place a 24 hour reminder notice (door hanger) the day before the shutdown of service will commence. tate that it will be during the day, that will normally occur 10am to 3pm.”
RECENT DOORHANGERS sent out by Hunter Contracting, Inc. report that underground utility work will take place from April 14 - June 6, Monday - Friday, 7am to 4pm. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained. If a resident has special needs, contact Anthony Muniz at 520-975-3130.
(Thank you, DTM Jim DeGrood, JPNA Cindy Doklan, and Hunter Contracting)

MONTHLY REPORT
A medical flight is considered both an arrival and a departure of the same aircraft.
February - Total flights =138 (69 arrivals,69 departures), 32 arrivals non compliant, 19 departures non compliant - 32% flights non-compliant
March - Total flights = 282 (141 arrivals, 141 departures).
42 non compliant arrivals, 28 non-compliant departures - 24.8% flights non-compliant
A quote from a neighbor in the March report "Flight arrived directly from the north over the 17-1800 blocks of Jeff Park. Completely out of the agreed upon flight corridor. And- what is the deal with the volume of these helicopters? They used to be dramatically quieter. I’ve been living here since 1994, and it’s NEVER been like it’s been the past 6-9 months."
