Grant Secured for Alcott School
Field of Dreams!

Dear Neighbor,

I am very pleased to report that Alcott Elementary School has been awarded a $750,000 Illinois Green Infrastructure Grant from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency!   This grant takes us one step closer towards making the long-sought "Field of Dreams," located at the intersection of Drummond Street and Orchard Avenue, a reality.

The Field of Dreams will replace the current, dilapidated field and open space adjacent to Alcott School with a modern, 21st Century playing surface all members of the community can enjoy.

I am incredibly happy that this grant has been made, and have worked diligently with the Alcott School Community to advocate for this funding.  This grant would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the entire Alcott community, and special recognition needs to go to the entire Field of Dreams Committee, led by Robin Fine and David Keats, who have spearheaded this project since the inception.

I would also like to send a profound and heartfelt note of gratitude for the hard work and strong leadership of Governor Pat Quinn and our local elected officials, Senate President John Cullerton (6th) and State Representative Ann Williams (11th), whose efforts were vital in acquiring this grant.

To celebrate this great achievement, please join me, President Cullerton and Representative Williams at Alcott School this Saturday for an award and celebration ceremony! Refreshments will be served, and the celebration begins at 11:30 am.
