Grant-Pierce Pipeline Project Update

July 31, 2025

Dear Neighbor,

We are roughly halfway through the pipeline work on Grant St. and Pierce St. There have been little to no issues with replacing the pipes. At this rate, EWEB is still on track to finish our work in September. Thank you to neighbors for keeping an eye on posted signage and moving street-parked cars in advance of construction activity.

What to Expect in the Coming Weeks

Work has happened concurrently on Pierce St. and Grant St., but they are different parts of the pipe replacement process. Check out the graphic in the next section to see the difference in phases of work.

Pierce St. and W. 22nd Ave.

Crews have replaced the larger water main down the length of the street. There may be a pause in the work as the next phase is scheduled. Once work resumes, you will see crews move down the street to connect the smaller service pipes that lead to individual homes and businesses. If crews need to shut your water off or block your driveway access to complete work, they will notify neighbors and provide additional information directly ahead of time.

Grant St. and W. 23rd Ave.

Crews are currently being scheduled to replace the water main. Expect construction activity to pick up on these streets once work begins.

What it Takes to Replace Your Pipes

EWEB pipe replacement projects go through the same series of steps to ensure neighbors have clean, fresh water with minimal interruptions. On smaller projects, these steps may happen in one day. However, on larger projects, such as those on Grant St. and Pierce St., these steps sometimes have pauses in the work due to the scope of work and crew availability.

Coordination with the City of Eugene

The Grant St. and Pierce St. Pipeline project is in coordination with the City of Eugene repaving project to address pavement age and improve stormwater infrastructure.

As of mid-July, the City has confirmed that this paving project is on track to conclude around the end of September. For more information about paving, head to the City of Eugene projects page.
