Home of New Vision opens new Recovery Wellness Center

On May 20, Home of New Vision opened a new Recovery Wellness Center, located in Ypsilanti. This new center, staffed by trained recovery coaches, serves as a drop-in hub for residents to get connected to resources and support for substance use recovery.

Healthy Aging Collaborative housing kick-off meeting

On July 25th from 1-3 p.m. at Arbor Lakes Dome, the Healthy Aging Collaborative will hold their first meeting exploring their new focus area: housing. The collaborative event will include a presentation and follow-up discussion on gaps in the housing sector for Washtenaw County seniors.

Mission: To build healthy, safe and inclusive supportive housing communities as a long-term solution to homelessness



Key focus area: Supportive housing

 

Services:

  • Housing Development: Owns and manages 29 supportive housing sites in Ann Arbor and Chelsea
  • Enhanced Property Management: Supporting residents with programs such as eviction prevention plans for at-risk tenants, weekly unit inspections, payment plans, goal setting, and action plans
  • Community Building: Supporting tenants by building positive relationships through community meetings, community-wide activities, and close coordination with Support Services team
  • Supportive Housing Services: Assisting with basic needs, helping maintain a healthy and safe household, advocating around parenting and child welfare issues, offering 24-7 on-call crisis response, and providing housing-based case management

Other services and programs:

  • Support with Healthcare: Providing residents with coordination of in-home primary medical care (with partner Packard Health), transportation to critical appointments, substance abuse and mental health services, and peer recovery support
  • Youth Development Programs: Helping with academic, social and emotional challenges for children and teens that have experienced homelessness

Grant Opportunities

The Michigan Health Endowment Fund is currently accepting applications for their Healthy Aging grant, given to organizations working to improve access to care, allow older Michigan residents to age in place, and increase support systems for older adults. Deadline: August 9, 2023

The Ann Arbor Community Foundation is currently accepting applications for their Dedicated Grant program, comprised of various grants with different funding priorities. Deadline: August 4, 2023.
