Making a patient's wish come true
We were so honored to make our patient's wish come true for one last trip to the pier at St. Simon's and pizza at Sal's Nurse Kirsten says, "That trip brought tears to our eyes. Watching the look on her face as she savored every moment is something I will always cherish. I am very grateful to have been able take part! PS...Tell all your friends and family about Sal's . Great food, but great people, too."
Too squeamish to talk about death?
There are Conversation Project starter-guides for end of life planning discussions, death cafes, death doulas and apps to send us daily reminders that we're going to die. " All share a common idea: that Western culture has become too squeamish about talking about death, and that the silence impoverishes the lives leading up to it." Hospice Savannah is glad that conversation is opening up as we want to help patients and families sooner rather than later! Read the rest of John Leland's fascinating New York Times article  here.

Palliative care does not equal hospice care
This great little article by RN Angela Morrow explains, in simple terms, how palliative care helps patients cope with a serious illness, long, long before they need consider hospice care. If you have difficult-to-manage pain or other symptoms, have more frequent doctor office or ER visits, or if you need help sorting out treatment options as your disease progresses, please consider calling our Steward Center for Palliative Care at 912.354.8014. We are blessed to have this valuable resource in our community. Let Dr. Laura Farless (pictured) and her team help you find a better quality of life!
The perfect venue for your next event!
Katie Grippin, our new Demere Center venue coordinator, is happy to show you how versatile and beautiful our building can be for your next holiday party, corporate event, or family gathering.
