October Is Arts and Humanities Month

This year's theme: ‘Collective Responsibility’

Join us during October — and some of September and November — to explore arts and culture’s key role in strengthening, developing and creating healthier communities and individual wellbeing. We, along with a few partners, have planned celebrations, exhibits and programs to salute 2023's Art and Humanities Month.

Mark your calendar for these events

  • Arts and Health – Mix and Mingle: In-Person, Wed., Sept. 20, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., at Shri Studio, 390 Pine St., Pawtucket. Free and open to the public. RSVP.
  • Arts and Health Conversation: A Community Primer on Arts and Health, Online, Wed., Oct. 11, noon-1 p.m. RSVP.
  • Celebrating the Life and Work of Jeannine Chartier at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum: In-Person, Thurs., Oct. 12, 5 - 7:30 p.m., RISD Museum, 20 N. Main St., Providence. The event is co-hosted by Arts Equity, the RISD Museum and RISCA. RSVP.
  • R.I. Arts Data Dashboard for Community Based Organizations, Online, Wed, Oct. 25, 10 -11 a.m. RSVP.

Call for Artists!

Block Island and T.F. Green International Airports' Galleries

The Call for artists is for the 2024 exhibitions at the Block Island Airport Gallery and GREEN SPACE Gallery at Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport.

The deadline to apply is Monday, Oct. 9, 11:59 p.m.

The Call considers artists who work in all media. Applicants must be Rhode Island residents. Students are ineligible.


The selection of artists will be by a review panel, which includes practicing artists, arts professionals and community members. Artists included in the 2024 exhibitions will receive a $300 stipend for participating in the program.

The galleries are a partnership with the R.I. Airport Corporation (RIAC). Read more about the Call.
