Quarterly Newsletter — Fall 2025

A note from the Foundation

Because of your support, teachers across the district are bringing hands-on, creative learning to life and more students are participating in activities regardless of family income. Below are highlights from this quarter and what’s coming up next.

Activity Fee Scholarships: Opening Doors

Our Activity Fee Scholarships ensure that cost isn’t a barrier to participating.

  • This Fall we supported 98 students with scholarships across 9 middle and high schools.
  • What Scholarships covers: Pay to Participate fees for OSAA sanctioned activities for middle school and high school students.
  • How to apply: Families fill out the district's Family Income Survey and your school will take care of the rest.

You can keep the door open. A gift of $40-$75 covers a full activity fee for one middle school or high school student.

Perseverance Awards: Celebrating Student Achievement

Each spring, the Bend-La Pine Education Foundation honors graduating seniors who have shown extraordinary resilience, determination, and character through our Perseverance Awards.

These awards recognize students from every Bend-La Pine high school who have overcome significant personal challenges to graduate. These students exemplify grit, courage, and an unwavering commitment to their education.

In partnership with the Axel F. Hoch Legacy Scholarship, established in memory of longtime community partner Axel F. Hoch, these scholarships provide financial support for students continuing their education in Oregon—whether at a 2-year, 4-year, or technical school - giving them the opportunity to pursue their future with confidence.

2025 Snapshot

  • 10 new Perseverance Award recipients across Bend-La Pine schools from the Class of 2025
  • 21 Axel F. Hoch Legacy Scholars in total (class of 2024 & 2025)
  • $190,000 provided to Axel's Scholars' education so far.

We’re proud to celebrate these inspiring students and the donors who make their paths possible. If you’d like to contribute to the Axel F. Hoch Legacy Scholarships: Donate to Student Scholarships →
