Listening sessions on streamlining arts & culture grants
This month, we will kick off public meetings and forums on how best to streamline and simplify our arts and culture grants programs and application process. Staff members will be hosting meetings throughout the state to gather feedback from the public to develop improved practices for their granting process.
Agency staff members want to hear from you!
At the listening events, staff will host an informal facilitated discussion so you can tell us what the challenges you are facing in navigating and applying for an arts and culture grant.
These listening sessions are free and open to the public.

Deadline Extended!
Public Art Call for the R.I. Fire Academy
Eligibility: Open to all working artists from New England and New York. Students are ineligible to apply.
Budget: $28,000.
Deadline: Newly extended to Monday, Sept. 16.
Artwork for Phase 3 of the R.I. Academy will be commissioned through Rhode Island’s Public Art Law, which mandates that 1 percent of all state capital construction and renovation funds be allocated to the purchase and maintenance of public art.
Through this program, the State recognizes that “public art creates a more humane environment: one of distinction, enjoyment, and pride for all citizens”. RISCA administers the selection process under the provisions of the law.
This unique project embodies the spirit and purpose of the RIFA training facility. As a possible jumping-off point, the panel would like artists to consider the essence of the building’s use and role in preparing the trainees for life in public service. Through RIFA’s rigorous, experiential training programs, trainees hone their skills, learn to work together, and develop confidence and trust in their abilities and each other. Fire service requires physical strength, teamwork, critical observational and communication skills, mental agility, and resilience. This is a job, a lifestyle and a vocational calling that cultivates a deep sense of belonging, of being part of a community with a storied tradition of service. Fire service requires dedication, courage, and support from family and friends.
