Department of Labor Update

The Colorado Department of Labor provide an update on unemployment claims, workload and federal assistance.

State Labor Department: More Than 60,000 Initial Unemployment Claims Filed March
Here at Kelley & Chulick we are keeping ourselves busy staying updated on the daily changes regarding taxes and financial relief efforts. Here is what we know as of today, March 25th.
We'll try to keep you updated regarding additional developments as they take place.

Filing and payment deadlines deferred. After briefly offering more limited relief, the IRS almost immediately pivoted to a policy that provides the following to all taxpayers-meaning all individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, associations, companies or corporations regardless of whether or how much they are affected by COVID-19:

1. For a taxpayer with a Federal income tax return or a Federal income tax payment due on April 15, 2020, the due date for filing and paying is automatically postponed to July 15, 2020, regardless of the size of the payment owed.
2. The taxpayer doesn't have to file Form 4868 (automatic extensions for individuals) or Form 7004 (certain other automatic extensions) to get the extension.
3. The relief is for (A) Federal income tax payments (including tax payments on self-employment income) and Federal income tax returns due on April 15, 2020 for the person's 2019 tax year, and (B) Federal estimated income tax payments (including tax payments on self-employment income) due on April 15, 2020 for the person's 2020 tax year.
4. No extension is provided for the payment or deposit of any other type of Federal tax (e.g. estate or gift taxes) or the filing of any Federal information return.
5. As a result of the return filing and tax payment postponement from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, that period is disregarded in the calculation of any interest, penalty, or addition to tax for failure to file the postponed income tax returns or pay the postponed income taxes. Interest, penalties and additions to tax will begin to accrue again on July 16, 2020.

Bullying is a Killer

Bullying is the leading cause of teenage suicide in our state. Teller County is not immune to this problem; unfortunately, human trafficking is also a problem. The Colorado Phoenix Project assists the vulnerable through physical and mental strength programs. However, help is needed now. You can help prevent bullying by supporting the mentoring of vulnerable children in our community. Click HERE to learn more and contribute to The Colorado Phoenix Project, a non profit program.

Fossil Beds Modifying Operations

Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, in response to guidance from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, is announcing additional modifications to operations to support federal, state, and local efforts to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

As of Saturday, March 28, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument will offer limited services outside those that support visitor or resource protection. At Florissant Fossil Beds, the following services and operations will be suspended in order to comply with the Colorado order:

The visitor center, visitor center parking lot, and adjacent picnic area and pit toilets will be closed.

The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners at Florissant Fossil Beds is our number one priority. The National Park Service (NPS) is working servicewide with federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our website and social media channels.

All the Monument's trails remain accessible to the public in accordance with the latest federal, state, and local health guidance, in addition to entry fees being waived for visitors.  Pets are not allowed on the Monument's trails.  Service dogs that are specifically trained to perform a task to assist a person with a disability are permitted on a leash.

Access to the Monument's trails is available at the Hornbek Homestead parking lot and the Barksdale picnic area.  There are no restroom facilities available.

The NPS encourages people who choose to visit Florissant Fossil Beds during this pandemic to adhere to guidance from the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  and state and local public health authorities to protect visitors and employees. As services are limited, the NPS urges visitors to continue to practice  Leave No Trace principles , including pack-in and pack-out, to keep outdoor spaces safe and healthy.
Hey mamas,

Healing Spot
I know your back pain, neck pain and headaches won't go away just because CoVid-19 is here and you're cooped up at home. In fact, perhaps it's worse than ever because of all the stress you're under. Now with greater reason, it's time to focus on self-care. Let's start with your head!
Check out my latest video where I'm sharing a very simple yet powerful self-care technique if you're experiencing headaches.

Dear friends,

Healing Spot I made the decision the week before to stop in-person physical therapy sessions in the best interest of my patients and the collective whole. It was heartbreaking. I cried and cried. Like many of you I'm scared and forced to make a lot of changes that I didn't want to make. But I'm also resilient and I trust in my heart it'll all work out. Despite the inability to put my hands on others, I can still serve. Our office for in-person care is now closed but we're still offering our expert advice and guidance. Now is not the time to end up in urgent care because of your pain. Inquire about our online services on our website by filling out an Inquiry Form or request a free Discovery Visit (it can be done virtually). Visit HERE or call us 719.270.1123.

Be safe and stay healthy!
