CCC - A Living Legacy
Presented by the Ute Pass Historical Society

The Great Depression of the 1930s rock our nation's foundation like nothing since the Civil War.  The 1929 stock market crash was followed by a decade-long drought and dust storms that devastated Colorado and neighboring states.  In 1933, newly elected Franklin Roosevelt announced "Our greatest task is to put people to work." And so he did, implementing programs that included the Civilian Conservation Corps.

CCC- A Living Legacy explores the role of the Forest Service in the Corps, the camps, their activities and projects in the Pikes Peak region, the impact of the program on the nation and the local legacy that the CCC boys left behind.

CCC - A Living Legacy will be on display through April at the Woodland Park Library on the top floor during regular business hours.

US 24 ITS Fiber Optic, Between Woodland Park and Colorado Springs (anticipated to be complete Fall, 2019)

The US 24 ITS project is a fiber optic installation project, taking place between the City of Woodland Park and Interstate-25/Cimarron Street in Colorado Springs (17 miles). The project is designed to maximize the operational efficiency and management of the existing roadway infrastructure through the use of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and devices. The fiber optics project is part of CDOT's Smart Mobility Plan, a 5-10 year plan for statewide technology deployment.

Work will generally take place outside the pavement area or in the shoulder area. In that instance, work may take place Mondays through Fridays. When work is scheduled overnight in areas where work outside the travel lanes is not possible, the outside edge of the travel lane pavement may be impacted.
