CDOT - Take the Survey

Your Transportation Plan - Connection, Choice and a Colorado for All.

The countdown has begun!  Coloradans have until September 3rd to provide input and feedback on the issues that impact them the most. Nobody knows Colorado's transportation problems better than the people who are in it every day; this is why we need to hear from you.

Please visit YourTransportationPlan.MetroQuest.com before September 3rd, to tell us where problems exist and what CDOT's priorities should be over the next 10 years!

Activities at Fossil Beds 
 
Fossil 50 Yoga Hikes , Mondays, 9:15 am - 10:30 pm. Join a certified yoga instructor and a Park Ranger for a 1 hour and 30 minutes, 1 mile yoga hike. This will be a hike interspersed with standing yoga poses. Meet at the visitor center.

Fossil Demonstration Excavation Site,
Wednesdays, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.  Meet geologist, Dr. Bob Carnein at the demonstration excavation site and see the fossil beds in situ and learn about how excavations are conducted. This site is located off the Petrified Forest Loop approximately 1 mile round trip from the visitor center.

Art in the Parks,
Thursdays, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.  Everyone is an artist! Drop in and join volunteer artists and other visitors to sketch and/or water color paint scenes of Florissant Fossil Beds.  Stay as long or as short as you would like anytime between 11 AM - 1:00 PM.

In God We Trust Rally

Learn how to make a real difference in the State we call home. Rally with others to activate, network, and mobilize Christians and conservatives to turn Colorado back to God. Hear from insightful speakers: Dr. Lance Wallnau, State Senator Dennis Hisey, State Representative Mark Baisley, Pastor Mark Cowart, and Andrew Wommack. This free event will be held at The Auditorium of Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, Colorado, on Saturday, September 14, 2019, with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there! UPHS' 2020 Pictorial Calendars Available NOW
 
PPHS Ute Pass Historical Society has a limited number of 2020 14-month calendars available for sale for $12 each. The calendars are a Green Mountain Falls edition and a Ute Pass Edition (mostly trains!).
 
The gift shop is located at 231 E. Henrietta Avenue, next to the Woodland Park Library. Gift shop hours are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Wednesday through Saturday, year-round.

UPHS
Ute Pass Historical Society offers FREE guided tours of History Park and the Walking Tour of downtown Woodland Park every Saturday this summer through August 31. The 90-minute Walking Tour of Downtown Woodland Park begins at 9:30 a.m., so please arrive at the UPHS Museum Center by 9:20 a.m.
The Museum Center is located at 231 E. Henrietta Avenue, next to the Woodland Park Public Library. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and a light sweater.
 
After the downtown walking tour, walk through the five buildings comprising History Park at 11:00 a.m. Exhibits and contents have recently been refashioned so "come again for the first time!"

US 24 Resurfacing Project, from 8th Street to west of Manitou Springs (completion approximately Spring, 2020)
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is working on a resurfacing overlay project along US 24, from 8th Street to west of Manitou Springs (mile marker 296 to 304).

Pavement milling and resurfacing on the roadway will improve safety as it provides motorists a smoother road surface by eliminating ruts and road damage. US 24 West was last paved in 2004.

ln addition to pavement milling and resurfacing, the project also includes bridge rehabilitation on at least four structures, bridge rail replacement, and intersection enhancement at US 24 and 21st Street. Bridge scour protection at the US 24 Fountain Creek bridge and added westbound turn lane capacity are additional features to these improvements to US 24.
Day work for the week of September 1 :
  • Tuesday, September 3 - Saturday, September 7, daily, 5 a.m. - 8 p.m. NEW - right turn lane restrictions at US 24 and 21st Street, east side only for intersection re-building
  • Two through lanes in each direction, eastbound and westbound will be maintained open
Overnight work for the week of September 1 at the Intersection of US 24 and 21st Street:
  • Tuesday, September 3 through Thursday, September 5, overnight, 8 p.m. - 5 a.m., eastbound and westbound, alternating single lane closures at mile marker 302.00
  • One lane each direction will be maintained open in the work zone
  • Work is for intersection rebuilding
Overnight work for the week of September 1, 26th Street to west end of project:
  • Tuesday, September 3, through Thursday, September 5, overnight, 7 p.m. - 5 a.m., at El Paso Boulevard and US 24 Business is CLOSED, eastbound and westbound with DETOUR in place. 
Ongoing Restrictions :
  • Lane widths to 10 feet at 21st Street and US 24, both eastbound and westbound for intersection re-configuration
  • Speed reductions to 45 mph in active project work zones.
