2019 IRS Mileage

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has  issued the 2019 standard mileage rates. Beginning on January 1, 2019, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car, van, pickup or panel truck will be:
  • 58 cents per mile for business miles driven (up from 54.5 cents in 2018)
  • 20 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes (up from 18 cents in 2018)
  • 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations (currently fixed by Congress)

Monday, December 25
Christmas Day: the Visitor Center will be closed, but the park is open for hiking and camping.
 
Tuesday, January 1
First Day Hikes - Colorado State Parks have taken on the tradition of hosting hikes on New Year's Day - to start the New Year out right!  Join in First Day Hikes at Mueller! Bring water, snacks, (snowshoes?) and dress for snow! First hike at 9:00 am.

Fossil Beds Announces Entrance Fee-Free Days for 2019
 
Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument will waive its entrance fee on five days in 2019.
 
The five entrance fee-free days for 2019 are:
       Monday, January 21 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
       Saturday, April 20 - Start of National Park Week/National Junior Ranger Day
       Sunday, August 25 - National Park Service Anniversary
       Saturday, September 28 - National Public Lands Day
       Monday, November 11 - Veterans Day
 
Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is one of 115 national parks that has an entrance fee.  The annual $80 America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass allows unlimited entrance to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including all national parks. There are also free or discounted passes available for senior citizens, current members of the military, families of fourth grade students, and disabled citizens.

The Ute Pass Historical Society Gift Shop has ordered more copies of the Ute Pass 2019 calendars! $12 + tax. The shop is located next to the Woodland Park Public Library, 231 E. Henrietta Avenue. Rampart Library District will be closed December 24 & 25 for Christmas and December 31 & January 1 for New Years.

The Silver Wood Musical Group is playing holiday music 1:00 pm Sunday, December 23 the Woodland Park Library, 218 E. Midland Ave.  Free to all.
 
31st Street:

The left turn closure has been completed at US 24 and 31st St.

The US 24 Intersection Improvement Project at 31st St. and Ridge Rd. will take a project break for the holidays between Friday, December 21 and Wednesday, January 2. The shoulder closures at 31st St. and US 24 will be lifted following work on Thursday night, December 20.

CDOT is excavating, regrading and extending the median, rebuilding it to extend the left turn lane and replacing curb and gutter.

After the completion of the surface work at these two intersections, work at this location will shut down until early January for the holidays, at which time final traffic signal work will be completed.
