Leap of Kindness Day
Please Participate
Saturday, February 29, 2020
In 2016, the Saratoga, NY Chamber of Commerce along with 50 other Chambers nationwide created the Leap of Kindness Day.
This year we are joining those Chambers and others to encourage you to participate in the Leap of Kindness Day.
The idea - - take part in Leap of Kindness Day and do something kind for someone else!
PAY IT FORWARD!
- Employers can use Leap of Kindness Day to build employee morale, with a focus on kindness and community. Share the information with employees and support their efforts to participate.
There are a multitude of ideas, send a card to someone in assisted living or care facility, collect socks and take there, help out a local non profit that day, send a note of gratitude to a teacher, bring food to your local police station, pay for someone's coffee that day, say "hello" to a stranger or help a neighbor next door who's working on a project. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of things you can do.....just do it!
Little acts of kindness go a LONG WAY! If you are on social media make sure to use the hashtag
#LEAPOFKINDNESSDAY2020.

The Wildflower Excursions
Pikes Peak Historical Society presents Mel McFarland's "Wildflower Excursions" program 2:00 pm Sunday at the Lake George Charter School. Local historian and author of two Colorado Midland Railroad books, Midland Route on the Colorado Midland and Cripple Creek Road on the Midland Terminal, McFarland will give a slide presentation and discussion of the Midland's Wildflower excursions into what is now the Eleven Mile Canyon and Lake George area.
This trip will show not only "company" advertising pictures, but also pictures that people on the train took. Beginning in 1887, it was a very popular full day excursion starting in Colorado Springs, and picking up people along the way. Participants carried home armloads of wildflowers. Admission is free and light refreshments served. No reservation is required. For more information, call 719.748.8259.or 719.748.3861.

Hey mamas, want to know my secret to ease chronic pain?
It's this: a simple, 4" inflatable ball. It is the tool I recommend most often to release those tight, tense areas of the body. The real secret isn't the ball itself, though. It's what you DO when you're using the ball that makes all the difference in the world.

Welcome CUSP Executive Director, John Geerdes
CUSP founder, Carol Ekarius is retiring as CUSP's Executive Director to focus her efforts on the recently founded umbrella organization, Coalitions and Collaboratives, Inc. John Geerdes, retired Mueller State Park Manager, was recently hired by the board of directors to take her place and boy, has he been given a heaping helping of CUSP pie. In his first month, John has familiarized himself with the nonprofit's financial records, grants and stakeholders. When not meeting with CUSP partners and staff for site visits or to discuss ongoing projects, he's attending various council meetings, catching up on Community Wildfire Protection Plans and reading up on post-fire science, water quality and fire social science. John comes to us after 34 years with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Carol Ekarius will be working closely with John to ensure his success at the new leader of CUSP.
