Friday, June 7, Night Sky Program, 8:30 PM - 10:30 PM.   Join park staff and members of the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society to gaze at the dark skies above Florissant Fossil Beds in search of planets, galaxies, nebulas, and more. Meet at the visitor center.

Science Open House and Junior Ranger Day
Saturday, June 29, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM , Learn about the ongoing research taking place at Florissant Fossil Beds including geology, paleontology, biology, hydrology, botany, astronomy and much more. Get a behind the scenes tour of different science projects.  Kids (and former kids) can earn a Junior Ranger badge by visiting the science stations.
 
Daily Interpretive Program Schedule  (program schedule subject to change, call ahead for details) 
 
Ranger Guided Walk, Every Day 11:00 AM , 1 mile guided hike on the Petrified Forest Trail
 
Fossil Learning Lab, Every Day 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM , learn how scientists discover and research fossils in the Yurt
 
Hornbek Homestead, Saturdays and Sundays,  11:00 AM - 1:00 PM , take a tour of an 1878 homestead
 
Interpretive Talk, Saturdays and Sundays,  10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, 30 minute interpretive presentation in the amphitheater

FREE Tours of History Park and Downtown WP by the Ute Pass Historical Society 
 
Historical Society Ute Pass Historical Society offers FREE guided tours of History Park and the Walking Tour of downtown Woodland Park every Saturday this summer through August 31.
 
The 90-minute Walking Tour of Downtown Woodland Park begins at 9:30 a.m., so please arrive at the UPHS Museum Center by 9:20 a.m.  
 
The Museum Center is located at 231 E. Henrietta Avenue, next to the Woodland Park Public Library. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and a light sweater.
 
After the downtown walking tour, walk through the five buildings comprising History Park at 11:00 a.m. Exhibits and contents have recently been refashioned so "come again for the first time!"

Overnight work for the week of June 10 happens along US 24 from El Paso Boulevard to Manitou Avenue and near Cave of the Winds. It includes:
  • Sunday, June 9 through Thursday, June 13, overnight, 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. at mile marker 293.50 - 299.00
  • Work consists of tie ins, pull boxes, and man holes, rock sawing
  • Eastbound and westbound traffic can expect right shoulder closures and right lane closures as needed
Daytime work for the week of June 10 in Woodland Park, Manitou Springs, Cascade and Colorado Springs consists of:
  • Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14 daily, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., at mile marker 291.00 - 293.00.
  • Work consists of directional boring, tie ins, pull boxes, man holes and erosion control
  • Eastbound and westbound traffic can expect right shoulder closures and left shoulder closures as needed
