Hike: Cheesman Ranch
8:30 am Meet at Grouse Mountain Trailhead
Learn about the rich history of Mueller State Park as you see the sights, breathe in the mountain air and look for wildlife and wildflowers. Visit the many structures of the Cheesman Ranch, the best-preserved historical buildings in the park. Naturalist Cindi will guide you on this 5-mile long but moderate trail. Bring plenty of water and a snack!

"Colorado Driver Safety Institute" (a division of Driver Safety Consultants, Inc.)
 is offering and conducting the State Approved (4) hour EDAP PERMIT QUALIFICATION CLASS ON  
SATURDAY MAY 18, 2019!
 
  ATTENDANCE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION WILL QUALIFY YOU FOR A COLORADO INSTRUCTIONAL PERMIT!Take the written examination at the end of course.   CLASS STARTS promptly AT 9:00 AM. (late attendees will not be admitted)
If you are over 15 1/2 years old, this class will qualify you to begin driving!

Chautauqua Hosted by Pikes Peak Historical Society

Historical Society The Pikes Peak Historical Society invites you to learn more about the Pony Express at the May 19 Chautauqua. The fascinating story of the short-lived mail service will be presented by Ken Valles at 2:00 p.m. at the Lake George Charter School. Included will be pictures and video clips of memorabilia, statues, museums, and many other related items. Ken's personal collection will also be on display. A colorful pictorial summary booklet will be available for a $15 donation. Be sure to attend this historic adventure into the wild West and its Colorado connection! Bicycle-Friendly Driver Course

When: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm on Saturday, May 18

This program is designed to teach drivers best practices for sharing the road with people who ride bicycles.
The 1.5 hour, interactive class covers the following topics:
- Common causes of crashes between motorists and bicyclists and how to avoid them.
- Legal and illegal behavior for motorists and bicyclists.
- How to navigate on-street bicycle infrastructure while driving a motor vehicle.
- Why sharing the road is the safest option for both motorists and bicyclists.
- What laws and etiquette we teach bicyclists.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Bicycle-Friendly Driver certificate, a sticker to display on their vehicle, and the option to pledge to be a Bicycle-Friendly Driver.

  Celebration is 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Memorial Park.
 
Work will generally take place outside the pavement area or in the shoulder area. In that instance, work may take place Mondays through Fridays. When work is scheduled overnight in areas where work outside the travel lanes is not possible, the outside edge of the travel lane pavement may be impacted.
Overnight work for the week of May 20 happens along US 24 from Pyramid Mountain Road to Waldo Canyon and includes:
  • Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23, overnight, 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. at mile marker 293.00 - 295.00
  • Work consists of rocksawing, manholes, and erosion control
  • Westbound traffic can expect right shoulder closures and, right lane closures as needed
