TIFTON APPROVES
TAX INCREASE
After Marathon 3-Hour Hearing & Meeting
Friday Evening
Tifton City Council has passed a 3-mill property tax increase during its special meeting Friday night, June 28. The 3-2 vote came after a public hearing and several unsuccessful attempts to pass a 2-mill hike and an unsuccessful proposal for more severe cuts without a tax increase.
Voting for the tax hike were council members Julie Smith, Johnny Terrell and Marianna Keesee. Voting against it were Jamie Cater and Chris Parrott.
