Through our wonderful long term partner Lantern Projects we were introduced to The Katz Foundation, working internationally to alleviate hunger. They have approved our application and are providing a generous grant of $39,000 to help with food security in Cambodian villages.
We will be able to continue and expand our successful agriculture micro loan project. This project will help feed the community as well as fund our free school breakfast. The grant will help the farmers in the area by providing low interest seeds loan for growing vegetables and rice. The farmers are able to provide the community with affordable locally grown food.
The sales of the produce repay the micro loan and those generated funds are then helping feed our school children a free nutritious breakfast every morning. The grant will allow CCDO to expand into a new area and feed an additional 5,000 children.
Thank you, Gail Uilkema, founder and president of Lantern Projects for your invaluable introduction.
