NOVEMBER 2025 — As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to personally thank our clients, partners, and hardworking team for another successful season. Every project we complete and every property we care for is a reflection of the trust you place in us. And we don’t take that for granted.

This month, we’re excited to share how our team continues to grow, taking on new types of work such as mowing and maintaining solar panel fields — a growing need as more commercial sites turn to sustainable energy. You’ll also find articles on detention basin maintenance and fall plantings like pansies, both important ways to keep your landscapes healthy and vibrant through the cooler months.

From all of us at Hewson Landscape, thank you for being part of our extended family. Wishing you a warm, safe, and happy Thanksgiving season.

Solar Field Mowing Solutions

As solar fields expand across New Jersey, maintaining the land beneath and around the arrays requires a careful, knowledgeable approach. These areas can’t be covered with impervious materials. Rainwater must be able to soak into the soil to prevent flooding and runoff.

That’s where Hewson Landscape’s solar mowing expertise makes the difference. Our team uses proven techniques to safely manage vegetation in hard-to-reach spaces between and behind solar panels, ensuring the site stays accessible and efficient. By controlling plant growth, we help prevent shading, improve energy output, and protect the sensitive equipment that keeps these systems running.

With Hewson Landscape, your solar fields stay well-maintained, efficient, and looking their best. No matter how complex the terrains.

Pansies for Cold Weather Color

Pansies are an excellent choice for commercial properties in the fall. They provide vibrant color through snow and cold, reemerge in spring, and last until early summer. For seasonal impact and long-lasting value, pansies deliver the best return on investment.

Tackling the Tough Terrain

When it comes to maintaining large, sloped landscapes, Hewson Landscape has the right equipment—and expertise—to get the job done safely and efficiently.

Recently, our team completed a steep hill mowing project across from a warehouse property in Bayonne, where the terrain was too challenging for standard mowers. Using our specialized slope equipment, we were able to maintain the area quickly, prevent erosion, and leave the site looking clean and professional.

From industrial campuses to solar panel fields, Hewson Landscape is equipped to handle large-scale, difficult-to-reach areas with precision and care.

Detention Basins

Detention basins—often-overlooked parts of a commercial property—play a critical role in stormwater management. These engineered basins temporarily hold runoff during heavy rain, slowly releasing it to prevent flooding and erosion. They provide temporary storage, controlled release, flood prevention, erosion control, and water quality improvement—all essential to protecting our ecosystem.

But proper maintenance is key. Over time, sediment buildup, invasive plants, and debris can block drainage and reduce capacity. Regular mowing, sediment removal, and vegetation management keep basins performing efficiently—and looking clean, professional, and flowing.

At Hewson Landscape, we maintain detention basins for commercial clients year-round, ensuring they stay functional, compliant, and visually appealing. It’s another way we help protect your property investment while supporting sustainable landscape practices.
